Favorite LFS "CUSTOMER" STORIES ...

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I'm gonna be studying for the next couple of years, small business management aquaculture ect. And hopefully if i can acquire enough money I would LOVE to open my own store just so i can hang a sign in front that reads:
"Disclaimer: Owner and employees have the right to deny customers any live stock if they believe that the customer fails to meet the requirements(housing and caring)"
This goes for everything Betta fighters to Oscars if i think that someone cant handle the load, like when i first got my O, i am gonna refuse them. I wish someone could of did that for me!!!!!!!

snyder810-I know it's their job but when they know you and still do it-it's just annoying. Plus there are those that ask in a nice tone-then you have others that question you like you are stupid or something. All I am trying to say is that it works both ways-You got stupid customers and stupid and rude employees.

Example: My buddies 240 gallon finally cycled so we went to PetSmart. Got a Jack, GT, and Oscar. Then we wanted to get 4 Tinfoil Barbs the guy was refusing to sell them to us-because Barbs were "semi aggressive" and the others were labeled as "aggressive" I explained to the idiot for what seemed an hour and still would refuse to sell them to us, so I brought my laptop and showed my 240 set up which had Cichlids and Barbs to say the least. Still he refused after an hour had to call the manager and go over the same thing!! Finally after almost an hour and a half sold us the fish.
That is just ridiculous!! I know they are doing their job but when someone shows you proof and gives you valid answers the employee shouldn't bust their balls!

^^^ That is ridiculous. You must have a lot of patience. I would have ended up in the hospital with the guy so the surgeons could remove my foot from his @$$.

At least you got the fish. :grinno:

paopanlilio...it sounds to me like you were being rude because you weren't helped first, when someone else was ahead of you?

I can understand wanting to correct the misinformation given by the LFS...just seems to me you could have handled that better.

ok, i can understand your frustration, that is extreme and quite honestly highly unusual that a store would try and pass up money from knowledgeable customers (or any customer really)

Overhearing a conversation at one of the lfs, waiting for my turn.

Employe: Can i help you?
Customer: Yes, i just finished cycling my new big tank, so im looking for some big robust cichlids. Have any tips on which ones would go together?

The employee starts talking about the various cichlids they have, which go together, which doesnt. Sounds like he knows what hes talking about.

Employe: Before you pick your favorite, i should ask how big your tank is, to avoid overstocking or selling you a fish you eventually have to sell.
Customer: I have a 50 g.
Employe: Ok, did you like any of the dwarf cichlids?
Customer: No, i want one that gets big..
Employe: The blue acara then? Or the convicts? The blue eyes?

The customer doesnt want any of those, she points to a vieja synspila, a tanganyika humphead, a rio grande and some oscars.
She thankfully gets told that those get way to big for her tank, she gives him the lesson that 1 litre = 1 cm of fish... the employe tries to stay as calm as he can, keeps explaining, hoping it will get through.

It doesnt, this is also a chain store that cant refuse sales. He gives up, she gets her little fishes... they are probably dead by now. If not, they probably wish they were.

Working in pet stores sucks.
