so an oscar has HITH, which they pretty much all do or will get? wow...........

I got a 12"+ Oscar at my store with NO HITH or any kind of scarring, damage, etc. Was absolutely perfect, someone took care of him well. I was amazed...haha.

Over hears 2 customers at a saltwater fish store only asking for "oscars"

Oscars are freshawater, everything here is saltwater!

Five minutes later, the owner gets behind the cash register, "Sir where are the oscars?"

no oscars here, everthing is saltwater replied Patrick

I walk up to Patrick, pat where's your Oscar tank?

So I read 60-70 pages in one sitting and came to a few realizations.

1) People are dumb and some of them should probaly be kept in tanks. (Holes in lid optional)

2) There are several "young" members here who have THOUSANDS of posts. (i.e. bottomfeeder and others)

Not fish related, but...

"Can I keep a chinchilla in the same cage as my ferret?"

"Absolutely not, unless you're trying to kill your chinchilla."

"I'll try anyways..."

Bwahahah. I hear that. My ferret is king of the house. The 2 cats are afraid of him, my 30 pound dog is afraid of him(he has a pierced ear from messing with the ferret), and the ferret somehow climbs onto/into my 60 gallon to go fishing in about 2.3 seconds after I let him outta his cage.

I don't have any good LFS stories. Only have two LFS, and 2 chain stores which I avoid like the plague unless I need equipment. They got good prices on anything not breathing.

Customer: How old do you think that oscar is? He looks ancient!
Me: Well they can grow about a foot in a year if they are taken care of...and he's about a foot, so..
Customer Interrupts: Ohh...so probably about 5 years old, huh?
Me: ......................

dont know if it counts or goes with the topic but heres mine.

a few days ago i went to take my oscar back to the store for in-store credit, since pretty soon i wont be home near as much as i am now (being a student sucks), and my mother cant care for him.

he is about 4-5 inches, which was halfway between where all of their stock was. most was either 6"-7" or 3"ish. i was saddened to watch him go into a 125 gallon with a 3 other oscars a little bit bigger than him. i was picking up some food and i overheard a customer talking to the worker about how he was stocking up a 250 and needed an oscar to go with his other two and that he was getting mine!

i went in saddened about giving up a good friend, but i'm ecstatic that he's in an absolute ocean (atleast from his perspective) now. :)
