Finally going to get it.....

Paratheraps and vieja are a genus, not a species, and whether or not the fish will work in a community, probably depends on the species. Heterospila is pretty friendly and a good community fish, some others like maculicauda or zonatus are very aggressive. Whether your tank is a 180 or a 250 may make a pretty big difference. I would probably not mix the ultra aggressive vieja with Oscars and sajica. One fish I kept in that genus which I found pretty passive was vieja regain. Though, some other members on this site have had different experiences. I believe the vieja would go better with the aggressive types I listed than with the more passive Oscars and small sajica, and would work better in the 250 than 180
Synspilum was the species I was looking at, If they are too aggressive can I do

sajica pair
2 oscar
3 redshoulder sevrums
3 sun cats
4-5 silver dollars/tinfoil barbs
1 fire eel
Sorry if I'm asking a lot of questions, Haven't had too much experience with SA/CA cichlids....

No worries, good that you are asking a lot of questions.
The stock that you listed, would probably be fine in a 250 IMO. A bit much for a 180.

Synspilum (actually called melanurus now) are usually one of the more peaceful vieja. They do get very large however; in a 180 your space would be somewhat limited with a big male melanurum. In a larger tank you would have a little more wiggle room. I think a melanurum would probably work with a sajica pair, and some dithers, in a 180.
Of course, there are no guarantees with cichlids, and you might get a particularly aggressive redhead

Ok, I really like the Synspilum so to house it with the pair, Oscar, and dithers I would need a
240? The spec on the tank I'm looking at are
Gallons: 240
Tank Length (Inches): 96
Tank Width (Inches): 24
Tank Height (Inches): 24
It will also have 2 JBJ pro 25 canister filters running ( rated for 125 each )

240 should give you a good chance imo yeah. I'd still keep another smaller tank around in case things don't work, out to move fish around.
Ok I have 2 75s a 55 and a 60 that I can throw a fish or 2 in Thanks for all the help:)

An oscar can eat a sajica so skip that.

You could get the one off where one of the sajica pairs with the Synspilum.

Ok sweet can I do a group 3-4??
With sun cats it's a gamble but the larger the group, the more likely they will be bolder, more active, and more social. All of that is because they enforce a pecking order. Viciously if need be. The size of the tank helps too. The bigger, the better.

My largest are ~16". I have about half a dozen remaining in 4500 gal.

The Sajica will already be paired and have a bit of size...Are you sure a oscar can eat a 5-8 in large bodied fish??

I want to try and keep everything relatively peaceful. What catfish can fit this tankisn'tt isnt very aggressive. Maybe lima shovelnose??
