FINALLY: HYDROLYCUS ARMATUS!!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
if there is only one fish lice on him i would get it off b4 it lays eggs, which it already could have. armatus are hardy fish, except aginst some meds. if the eggs hatch ur in trouble, and i tried a lice med b4 and it almost killed my armatus at a half dose.

I added some salt to the tank last night and with in a few minutes I noticed the louse was moving around the fish much like a remora does a shark. I decided then would be a good time as the louse didnt appear to be attached to the payara. Well I quicklt netted him, but didnt find the louse. I dumped him back in the tank and still no louse (remember this tank is bare). I looked through the net and didnt see anything either. I rinsed the net throughly just to be safe. Im assuming/hoping the louse was indeed in the net and I rinsed it away.

I work at a LFS and our feeder platies came in HUGE. Literally the size of the regular platies for fish tanks we sell so about a solid 1-1.5" and fat. Since I only pay 7 cents a piece for them I bought 40. My armatus is eating good in the hood tonight. In the next few days Im going to throw him in the bigger tank.

Nice pick up!

i would be careful moving ur armatus with out knowing whare that lice is.
