It should be ok as long as the water doesn't go above 75. Try feeding it some little fish or something.
Ours ate all the baby sunfish in the bucket when we were transferring them home from the river.

Yeah, they sit there a lot and periodically hop along the bottom to another spot.
Sometimes they'll swim around to get exercise, but that's not a constant thing.
Another thing is that they're kind of nocturnal. If he's not comfortable with you he may not move much until all the lights are off and no one is there.

And yeah they don't NEED current, though they seem to prefer it at times.
