And that maybe one reason I haven't seen red devils, and where I am there are rarely Peacock Bass, or for that matter Oscars. The only time I ever see or catch Oscars is when I drive either through the Everglades via Alligator Alley or when I drive US41 down and around the long way. I have seen Jags and a host of other odd balls including Black Pacu monsters.

Louie;3545754; said:As you know huge temp diff between here and further north in state. We got hit with an unexpected cold front last night temp was 64 degrees this am while in north it even dropped to 50s.
Granted thats rare and temp tommorrow go back to day high 80s night high 70s but up north it can get chilly in winter.
I went fishing in area shallow canal earlier and after 20 minutes left just to cold . Even the cichlids agreed and only big sunfish were biting.
My father in law has caught Black Pacu and knife fish (I have never seen either) . There is a snook fishing tournament coming up your friend might be interested.

I threw cranks, swimbaits, spinners, buzz baits and finally got some hits on some slow moving senkos. The favorite bait to guarantee a fish. I didn't land my first fish until about 9:20 and I hit two lil chunks within five minutes of each other. Here is one picture and I'll upload the others when I get them from a buddy. I was also trying the new rod/reel combo, 6'3" medium Vendetta with a Daiwa Magforce. I got to say this combo is the BEST that I have ever had. The feeling, the smoothness of the retrieve of the reel, EVERYTHING is perfect for what I want to spend. I just might have to go out spend another bit of change in a few weeks to get another setup. Yeah I from NY, I heard this morning that it was a bit on the nippy side from my fishing buddy. While he won't go out of his way to do a little bit of saltwater fishing, he's basically a straight up Bass fisherman. I gotta drag him to go out on the gulf, or even to the local creeks thats just banging with Snook. But if all goes well I'll be in Florida in Nov, the week before turkey day.Louie;3546075; said:Your in NY?
I wasn't sure where you lived. Fishng in NY isn't bad . I used to go Monster blue fish fishing on those party boats out of Freeport during late summer.
I didnt have any gear thus would rent it on the boat. Close to everyone that I know who fishes here only fishes salt .
