Ok my weekly question. I have this white blobby looking thing in the tank. At first I thought it was an Asterina Star now I am starting to question this. It definitely is moving around as I have seen it all over the rock in different places. I have only seen one though.
Also new picture of the above Zoa. The “tentacle” like roots are definitely growing and becoming more abundant. Any new thoughts with the new picture.
Sorry I have a tough time getting quality pictures with the phone.
This guy has been doing really well. And one of my palys just had first new polyp travel off of the plug and encrust onto rock. Very happy with the progression of all my corals at this point.
So I wanted to revisit this thread as I have gained a good bit of useful information from it. I did want to share a success story in regards to one of my corals. Unfortunately I have lost several but this one is doing so well wanted to share. Chalice added to the tank 05/26. The coral has nearly doubled in diameter, colors are extremely vibrant and the overall appearance is fantastic. Under the blue light the thing glows, the picture doesn’t do it justice.
Crazy thing is I actually broke a pie shaped wedge out of this thing accidentally while I was cleaning the tank. It was on the far right side. It grew back in about a months time.
Sure. I have chalked this first 10 months up as a learning experience. I lost several corals over the summer months, probably 10 total. I was getting frustrated as to why. I think I have figured it out. I was testing the tank weekly and doing water changes when it started to climb, usually every 3 weeks or so. I have now started to do changes every Monday regardless of nitrate readings. I have also been directly feeding each coral reef roids using a syringe. It is amazing how well they shave all responded. The colors are all more vibrant, the Blasto is extremely puffy and they have all “opened” up more. There is a sympodium right up front that always looked good but now looks great. It has finally started to grow and is crusting onto the plug. I have not added anything new for several months and will not until I am sure these are all healthy.
fish wise I have the two clowns, the orange one has been in the tank almost a year and the black one 6 months. Still have the same firefish that was added same time as the original clown. I had a clown goby as well but he managed to jump out the little opening in lid and I found him dried up on floor one morning.
