Ford explorers

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Probably fifty percent of the vehicles in this town are SUV's and a lot of those are Explorers.Im not disputing what your personal experience is,but I can't recall ever hearing of any flips happening here.It would seem that a flip over can only be caused by a driver taking a turn at too high a rate of speed, how else can it happen?..The side impacts are something else altogether.

I'm speaking from personal experience, and lots of people have been killed in them from rollovers and side impacts. They are not a very safe vehicle and they don't claim to be. You flip that thing and that top comes down one way or another, I just feel like it was a poor design. They're just not my cup of tea personally. *shrugs*

What's YOUR personal experience? You've had one? Flipped one? Someone you know flipped one?

I owned one for 4 years but will admit a friend flipped one but she's a crap driver and speed was a factor

I've had 3 different friends who've had them. First friend totaled hers, rolled it into a ditch due to her poor driving skills on a rainy night, roof collapsed but she lived. I drove it a few times, handled like a brick, gas gussler, etc. Second one had constant engine trouble and same with the third. All 3 leaked random assorted different fluids constantly, wouldn't start, one lost a belt etc. They both had a little over 100k.

Wow a bunch of women crashed SUVs. I bet that datas the same all across the board with all the makes.

Lol, just giving you crap. Thanks for sharing some personal experience (though it's mostly second hand) instead of regurgitating crap from poor reviews

Anyone have any personal experience with the 03 bmw x5?

I'll let you know, from a mechanic's standpoint, that you don't want a BMW after it hits 100,000 miles. The engine will still be strong but it WILL leak various fluids and a bunch of the different systems will fail/break/have other random problems and the cost to fix those things is rediculous, both in parts and labor. Also the wiring harness becomes very brittle and the insulation deteriorates quickly especially in three engine bay especially that year... I'm not saying that BMW's are crap, when they are new there's just about no better car to have. I'm just saying as they age there's just about no worse car to have.

Great truck just made for a different purpose than the 4Runner. If you plan on doing any off-roading stick with the Toy.
