Goldfish are Nutritious

CREAM? My girlfriend had some of that in her coffee this morning. I prefer my coffee black though.

I've seen cichla that have been fed an exclusive diet of hotdogs that look just as good as any I've ever seen. What your fish LOOKS like is only a portion of the story. Maybe if you treat your fish like a status symbol and have the goal of getting them as big as possible as fast as possible, it doesn't matter to you. I really don't care what some guy who can't spell on some Internet message board thinks. Maybe these scientific papers and concepts are a little too hard for some to understand.

No matter what, in the end people are going to feed what they want. I'm fine with someone feeding live food, but don't think it's necessary at all for most species. I just hope, like RD., that someone who hasn't formed a concrete opinion will read through this thread, research it for themselves, and make their own decision.

Let me add I Love this forum and what it stands for and am really enjoying this debate there is nothing wrong with people in dissagrement I LOVE this stuff!!!!

hulon, boring troll is boring. it's been said several times throughout the thread, many fish have been fed bad diets and manage to grow, just like us human will still grow on a bad diet and there's a slight possibility you may live longer then the natural average, it means nothing. pics are useless in this debate as there's many comsmetically pleasing looking fish feed all kinds of diet. that's not what we're discussing. we're discussing what's better for the fish in the long run healthwise, not how pretty (which is completely subjective in the first place) they are

stop the mudslinging and provide actual data or go troll somewhere else.

I look foolish? And saying CREAM three times in one paragraph in no way makes one look foolish?

Over and out...

Ok I really did not call you foolish. I have stated that I and other members who think alike are trying to show that feeders are a good source of nutrition through trial. I also feed Hot dogs/frozen rats/ and other options to provide a varity of different feeding option's. I really am being honest here I have yet to see a post where they state the Hulons cichla are ugly as a matter a fact I have seen exactly the oppisite. But when he states he feeds them feeders then all of the sudden there unhealthy? I and other's here are just trying to give an idea of actual result's not a paper written years ago when by the Diesel Mack was feeding feeders as well the benifit's that can be achieved from offering natural predetors a chance to hunt and dispaly there natural way's in the wild.

And bro you can make all the cream jokes you want I really don't care man it is funny we sit back and laugh at it all the time. But you asked for proof we gave it to you and now as the post above states pictures prove nothing come on PICTURES ARE ALL WE GOT here so were else do you suppose to get your proof?

Actually the Cichla I feed 100% feeders are not the biggest or fattest in my collection but they are the vibrant and beautiful of the collection. Which is why I am giving my two cent's because I have taken the time to find out for myself and not rely on some paper writte by someone else nor acknoledge the success of another keeper of which I had no hand in helping raise his or her fish. Just my observation.

I agree with your last statement the most at the end of the day it is all on the Owner of his water and the fish he chooses to keep.

And i actually have proof myself also ...I recieved two wild caught Brokopondo Pbass from another member for free just to see if i could nurse them back they were so far gone when i reached my hand in the bucket not fight left at all !!!And had a serious case of hith and on a 100% feeder diet i brought them back AND ELIMINATED THE HITH COMPLETLY . mY THREAD IS DOCUMENTED WITH PICS AND ALL SHOWING THE HITH GOING AWAY COMPLETLY!!!!!!:naughty::naughty::ROFL:

By providing actual data do you mean if he can copy and paste or are you asking for our actual opions as we do feed live so ie. we have input? I have seen you around and spoke with you through pm a few times but I really do not know what you keep or what your raising so I don't know if you use live at all or are against it.

I will say this we keep Cichla and I am not sure if you have ever noticed how many people say look at my new Cichla then a few months later there never heard from again until there new thread "Im back in the game" just picked up some more new Cichla because I lost the ones I had. Well I am curious as to how many of these losses were due to not providig a nutritional diet and when you lost them what was the reason and looking for the easy route and forcing one of the Cichlids with an extremly fast metabolisim the bare minimium (Pellet's) because that's all they can afford to buy. How many bags of Pellet's is going to cost you to to fill up 3 or more adult 2' plus Cichla? The truth is there isn't one Cichla keepers need to understand that this is a fine line to a BALANCED diet as stated in the papers that were copied and pasted here in this post we have all read these papers three years ago before Hulon was even keeping Cichla and my fish are still alive and healthy so what more proof do you need?

ok, science aside. i choose not to feed live fish to my predatory fish for two reasons.

First, because i believe that feeding live fish increases the level of aggressiveness in the tank. i think that if they will eat the live fish they might also see their tankmates as a possible meal.. and with my cichla temensis this has become reality, the two of them have eaten 3 of their tankmates that they outgrew.

second is convenience. i can get a variety of meats, fish and bugs that are already dead and frozen and less expensive than buying live feeders. and they are no less nutritious. and no risk of spreading disease.

i am reluctantly using processed fish kibble too. i have many misgivings about using processed food that bears no resemblance to real food, but money is tight so i use some fish kibble to make the real food go further.

it's my opinion that HITH has more to do with water condition then diet.

I think feeders are a very great source of valuable nutrition. There are 8 million photo's here and other fourm's to back that up. Im staying on topic here lets stick to the conversation. I really want to kow what the consenus is to FEED or not to FEED that is the question?
