Indochina gas recently been confirmed as one species- Bagarius lica. These fish can get over 3' long in the wild, and 3' or 100cm is certainly nothing to sneeze at, it's far larger than most of us have the capacity to house.
When they're smaller, lica and rutilus look very similar and are easily confused with one another; especially when freshly imported and stressed. The differences become apparent once they're 10" it so. They're often in the same shipments as they're sympatric.
