That Dovii will eventually have no tankmates by your choice or it's choice. Keep the other fish.

IMO......If the Dovii's gonna kill everything in the tank...............265 gal of money and time for 1 fish.................that fish better be something super rare and super awesome like a Vampire tetra or a Goliath tiger.

I want to say thanks to everyone so far for your opinions and ideas. It's given me a lot to think about.

This morning I got up and went to feed the fish. The Dovii and the three Dats came to the front of the tank and were begging for food all together practically touching each other. So far he doesn't care to hurt them at all. I can throw a hand full of Massivore pellets in and it turns into a feeding frenzy. The Datnoids practically grab pellets from my Dovii's mouth lol. If the Grammodes even comes near the feeding spot, he's toast.

For now I'm still not sure what to do except that I'll put the Grammodes male and female up for sale.

Anyone local interested?

I voted for keeping the dats & tig, but I'm also impressed that the dovii/dats/bichirs combo is working as well as it is. Granted he's taking shots at the tig, but a dovii that size tolerating anybody is very cool.

plus i have never heard of the dat and dovii combo either. dats are very fast and won't take no sh** either. i've heard of dats being the only fish out of countless tries to find tankmates that peoples jardini's wont kill.

i think you might be alright getting rid of just the tig and the gams. seeing thats the road it sounds like you are heading. keep the dats till you think you fear for their lil fishy lives.

I wish I still lived in Texas. I have always wanted a grammode. Good luck!

About an hour ago I put the Dovii's big piece of driftwood back in the tank. I took it out a while back to make more swimming room but now I'm thinking that's about the time he started jacking with the Tig. He seems to really like having his own territory again. He's been swimming around it checking it out and hanging around under it. I'm hoping something as simple as creating him his own space will help keep the peace. I've definitely decided to the the Datnoids over the Grammodes though. I'm really hoping I can keep the Dovii, Dats and Tig all together.

I wouldnt get rid of the Tig until you know fir sure it is being injured. Your Dovii might just think its something to play with and soon that tig will be big enough to show the dovii that it is not a toy. Get more low lying wood and some mossy plant to grow on it. This will give your tig somewhere to hide, while leaving lots of swimming space in the middle/upper regions of the tank. I love that Dovii man, and am a proud keeper of one. BUT, datnoids are very expensive as are tigs, and they arent as common. A dovii can always be bought another time, I dont see them becoming hard to aquire anytime soon. So like I always say, you have all your life to own all the fish you want, why does it have to be right now?

Thanks D, that's really great advice. I want so bad to keep them all. The Dats and Tig are rare but this seems like a rare Dovii too. I've already sort of put the first part of your advice into action today by adding driftwood and plants....although the plants are fake. Maybe I should get some Java moss.
