HELP MY OSCAR IS BURNING HERSELF TO DEATH

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
You were lucky lol. Softshells are the worst fish killers.

Had my goldfish in the same tank, same filter for like a week right b4 putting her in there, and it's been used for a few months b4 that w/ a month or two break between first use and goldfish use. Thought they might b sickly cause one of them had freying fins. But his tail is almost completey healed together, looks better, and no one else had the problem. Its just a little waterfall filter w/ a carbon pad in it. Does the waterfall make enough bubbles for her? Hubby won't b happy about buying another air pump:)But if I need too I'm sly and cute enough to have him get it for me.:naughty:

If I can convince him to buy me a 240gal. I can convince him to buy me a air pump:D

I love softshells. A reptile zoo I worked at had a spiny softshell, and a similarly sized alligator snapper. Poor snapper was CONSTANTLY assalted by her. He stopped eating and lost a lot of weight b4 they could find another home for the snapper. I love softshells, but I have three other turtles, and I don't want to subject them to torture. The adults already attack eachother sometimes. Luckily my juv map stays clear. He's such a peaceful guy.

go for it the chance...
when your tanks get too hot and break good luck...

Or you can be smart and exchange it anyways....they give full refund or exchange. no matter how old.

And why so quick to blame the turtles i had 13inch spiny soft shell in a 110g cube with 3 oscars, 2 green terrors, 2 BPs, 1 red jewels, 1 veija bifa, 1 kirin parrot, 1 red dragon FH, 1 dovii, 1 jag, with 2 plecos, and i didnt have any problems......

until i put a 11" aro in there and he got eatin when i was out of town.... lol what a sad day 90bucks eatin

not to get offtopic, but why the heck do you have that many large fish with a large turtle in a 110g????????????????

OP, test your hospital tank water parameters .... make sure youre not seeing any ammonia or nitrite. use prime if you are worried.

If it indeed a wound and not an infection or parasite causing it, it should heal very fast in a hospital tank. Oscars are extremely fast healers. If it doesn't heal fast you will know something else is going on.

Got the aquarium salt, and melafix. I read the directions, but both sound like an aweful lot of stuff to put in there. I mean 2 teaspoons every 10gal(melafix), and one rounded tablespoon per 5 gal(salt). I did the melafix, but the salt I only did one tbs. The salt seems a little much I mean i'd need to put in 4 tablespoons! Any suggestions on fish medication wuld b appreciated, I'm seriously worried about over salting my fish even though the directions say it. Just got the test kit. Some dangerous stuff in there! Will test after dinner.

That's not too much.

Think of this.. it's 1 cup per 100 gallons..

I have to put 15 cups in my koi tank.

Test results for the big tank. Ph:7.6, ammonia:0.25ppm, nitrate:80ppm, nitrite:0. I used the API freshwater master test kit. Advice on my results would b greatly appreciated:)
