HELP RESEALING 180 GALLON. PICTURES!!!!!!!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I think the best course of action would be to just get some razor blades/box cutters and some guitar wire and start cutting all of the seams apart so that you just have all of the glass pieces separated. Then use the base as a template to build or have built a new base and replace it completely. Clean all of the glass with acetone and be sure to keep track of which piece goes where. Once all of that is done and the base is waterproofed, you can begin reassembling everything with new silicone. It is a lot of work but it's far from hopeless.

If you're truly no longer interested then I would recommend looking for a buyer that is willing to give you what you paid for it, or just cut your losses and give it away.

Idk man, I know that braces can sometimes be repaired but if it were me I'd order a new plastic trim for the top (comes with braces) and silicone that on while you're doing the rest of the tank.

I don't like to take any chances with large tanks.

When the one on my 125g broke I held it together with a C-clamp for 2 months!

Is the base plywood?
yes, and one corner has dry rot.
There's gotta be a way i can salvage this without replacing and rebuilding the whole thing. It would take months. I can send more pics as I go. I'm starting with the silicone seams. I dont want to take the top brace off, but i needto remove the inside bottom one to seal it

the inside has a baseboard. Is it necessary to keep it and replace it ? or can I leave it out?

Is there any kind of silicone remover thats safe for aquariums?

I got the left corner off pretty easily. The glass seems to have shifted back away the inside brace, but it doesn't seem to be sitting off the base at all.
I thought i would show you what it looks like.

I'm all over it. At least I'm trying to be.
I can see its inevitable that its got to be recreated. I'm having a hell of a time.

I guess it doesn't matter now if i use a solvent to loosen up the silicone.
