Homemade Rimless 10 gallon

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Looks great, was wondering without rims if this might be dangerous?

The wife would kill me even if a 10g was on the floor.

Hey, kevinfleming. I've noticed that pretty much all of the "bunch" plants and "floating" plants at fish stores are low maintenance. If it looks like elodea, it may well grow like elodea. As for planting, I don't know what soil is really the best. I'm trying wild sand out on my ugly tank to see how it goes, but I added marine salt to hopefully help my livebearers out with whatever their weird problem is so if the plants die, I won't know if it was the salt or the substrate. :(

But, yeah. Floating plants tend to be relatively easy.

LOL! I actually thought you got some glass panels and silicone them together, but looks good without the rim. I've been thinking of doing a planted tank, but something super simple.

Don't you think the tanks are manufactured with a rim for a reason? Ten gallon tanks have awfully thin glass to begin with. I'd be afraid of the added bowing from no upper rim could cause the tank to crack easier.

I have not had a problem, been set up for a while now :)

Thanks, might try this soon!
