Homemade Rimless 10 gallon

Looks great, was wondering without rims if this might be dangerous?

The wife would kill me even if a 10g was on the floor.

I was thinking the same thing....

I thought the glass panels were only held together with silicone and the rims are what keeps the panels from busting out when filled with water.

Ive been able to separate glass panels on a 200g+ glass tank with only a razor blade, so it reinforces the notion of top and bottom rims.

It looks good, but I would seriously be concerned with how long before your 10 gallons are on the floor.

Can you grab a ruler and measure the bowing across the middle compared with the standard length of a side?

I could but there is none. The trim they install from the factory is for manufacture liability, as well as being in place for the addition of a hood that usually comes with it. Rimless tanks have been around for quite a while, in fact...I saw a guy on here not too long ago with a 750 some odd gallon rimless. I am sure my little ten will be fine.

Time will tell I guess. If you do not try, you would never know. We would never have any advancements in anything without experimentation.

been set up for almost a month full of water. why the great concern? No water on your floor if it does not hold.

hehe looks nice, but i got the same concern as the other guys.
i wouldn't trust those 10gal's silicone without the rim xD and i''m sure theres some special (pricier ) technique for those that build huge rimless tanks , as it probably require thicker glass to prevent bowing

eitherway, get some plants in there!
