How do you prefer your fish?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I like to get them young, as young as possible. I'd pay more for young fish then I would for adult fish. I like to know they have had good care and food all thier lives.

Babies and watching them grow.

Speaking of which, anyone here have 'baby' pics and adult pics to show the changes in their fish? I find that most interesting.

Two pics of my pleco

This is when I got him, sorry for the bad pic but compare his size to the coryImageUploadedByMonsterAquariaNetwork1359532514.526793.jpg

And now, only 8 inches but he grew from the first one to this in a yearImageUploadedByMonsterAquariaNetwork1359532675.867150.jpg

fry/get them small and watch them grow

When I got my first big tank, I bought three baby oscars, after a month or so with no noticeable growth I ended up trading them for two adult oscars. Had those two for less than a year before I got bored of them and sold em. My baby's where such aggressive eaters, where the adults were slow moving and kinda boring. Looking back I feel as if I had kept the baby's, I might have not lost interest in them so quickly and would have been more attached to them as adults. I know the guy personally that I gave the baby's to, and they've grown considerably. So now I prefer my fish as small as I can, given they're not so small that they end up as bait with tank mates.

awesome.

I fully understand you guys rationale.

But i want to enjoy my fish at their highest potential. Never know when the heart attack strikes and then it is over.

The pleasure of watching grow I have had with 7 children. Fish I want "ready" :)

Depends, I would never again buy a baby festae, I've never had a fish that grew slower and I had 5 wild caught festaes that I power fed high protien pellets and frozen foods and one year later that were all below 5"....... But I don't like buying large fish because it seams I can never get them to "play nice" with my community's lol
