How long will it go on??

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
^ thanks...... Any new progress with aro? I hope it will start to eat MS soon. Don't give in, if it's hungry it'll eat. Another NTT is starting to eat MS after 3 weeks. i still have a little one that refuse. I'm going to keep at it. GL

The RTG is starting to get really hungry. If there were MS on the bottom of the tank it would pick it up and eat it, as it used to. The NTTs don't let that happen though because they're pigs and eat everything before it hits the bottom of the tank. I have been putting frozen blood worm in for my Clown Loaches, my RTG has been trying to eat it, it's also showing interest in floating sticks now but it hasn't eaten one, or even tried to eat one yet.
I will not give in and it will eat sticks!!

Give it time... my green used to have a massive appetite when it was around 11-12" and would eat 2 mp's, 20-30 mw's and a hand full of aro sticks per day and then all of a sudden she just stopped eating. Her hungry strike lasted almost 11 weeks, she was living with a gator gar at the time and he just basically ate everything i threw into the tank trying to entice her to eat, he grew quite a bit during that period whilst she did slim down. She was quite a fat aro, but all of a sudden she decided she wanted to eat and started eating mw's... happiest day of my fish keeping life... i feed her over 40 mw's until she looked nice and fat.

so mate... relax, make sure your water parameters are good, add blackwater extract, even try covering up all sides of the tank and drop a feed or 2.

if i gave it meal worms now it would eat a lot of them. I am starving it to get it on to sticks.

Yes, tilapia, sorry.

Ctoc. A thousand Baht per inch would be about right. I bought it for 12,000BHT when it was little. It does have a little bit of lower protruding jaw and is not the brightest gold so if i were to sell it 18,000Bht would be a fair price considering a a higher quality RTG of the same size would sell for double that.

Hehehehe you are in BKK, yes? 18k is like 500 bucks hmmm i already got an RTG (highback) got it real cheap from MFK but it was a tabpole then (big big now as he eats alot - yes, he eats sticks)

I think i'm going mad!! ("the fish won't win" mumbling to myself!)
It's been 9 weeks now, it hasn't eaten any sticks, i thought i saw it casing a sinking one but i'm not sure.
I put way more MS in the tank that the dats can handle because my RTG likes to pick it up off the bottom. It didn't eat any!!
I'm getting worried because in 3 weeks i'm moving house, i want it to have eaten before that in case it goes belly up in the box. I'm not moving far but by the time i've taken the tank down, transported it and set it up again it'll be at least 3 hours!! (more like 4 or 5)
At night there are 2 or 3 sticks floating in the tank, and most mornings when i get up they're gone. I'm not sure if they're being eaten, or by what. They could just be sinking or going out the out let!!
It really is starting to do my head in! I'm not quiting though, i don't want to go through this again. I've been dreaming about it trying to eat the smallest dat or my clown loaches!
It getting really cranky with the other fish in the tank as well. What about force feeding, can it be done with arowana?

no force feeding. You will only stress it and kill it.
