how much would you pay for this blue dempsey????

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
This pic was taken approx a little over a year after I bought him around 1~1.5"... so I would guess 1.5 years from birth...

I've watched 5 or 6 go through this stage... they all went through it shortly after sexual maturity, do diffeent degrees and for different amounts of time...

I can't say all of them will go through it, but the males I've raised have...

Also the environment, mood and picture quality will all impact what we see in pics...

Interesting. I guess mine didn't get to the ugly stage before I sold them at 3".

Nice beaks... :D Don't worry all though we are trying to find away to get away from the beak. And still most have it.. Still calling a JD with a Beak Not ever reaching the ugly stage. Is well.. Kinda Blind Statement don;t you think? Especially since the one you are comparing yours to has very little beak at definite larger size...

Sorry man, but that is just a plain regular JD. It looks nothing like an EBJD. Probably not worth more then $15 if that. Just curious, but did you order it from the link that listed showing the juvy?
I beg to differ. :(

I been workin on getting a Pic from a Local breeder with Ormed stcok And the DAMN thing was SOLID blue at 2". WAs seperated with his siblings into a blue tank NO doubt THEY WERE ALL BLUES!! He looks better than The Blues above and Produces 10x's the quality of fry. And produces 55-70%Blues with a Blue Gene Female.. ;)

I really didn't want to get into it.. But I am Pretty positive that if the fish in the first pic is bred to a blue gene... Then BLues would come out of it.. That being the fastest Proof ;) I am also thinking... NOT KNOWING ;) As I do not have the fish right here in front of me.. But THINKING that if this fish in the first pic was bred to a REgular dempsey and the the fry breed to one another as a proving test... That Everyone that is Being ***NINE would have sour socks in their mouth's..

I for one would do it just to see the smelly lips that are kissing peoples wives.... But that is just me... I mean I have owned and grown and seen many Blues.. It is ONly rare to see truly Unique blues.. Unique blues have good structure and less color but are still Awesome...

But if the OP does not wasn't to do the test.. That is on him... And he can eat sour socks too... Cause that is lookin like what he will get. Now sound brain says... Sucks to be you you got ripped.. BUT to the EBJD breeder who has seen more EBJDS and Blue genes than those that have bought them... Well there are differences in all...

So now... EBJD experts sitting here that have bought and not bred.. Tell me... IS THIS A BLUE???

I don't claim to be any kind of "expert'... but have a good bit of experience with Blue Dempseys...

...Keeping in mind I've only been shown one pic and have never seen the fish personally... and also remembering

;) No mal intended :) Just hope those that dished it out see that it is all the same playing field now. You weren't being bias in my opinion in any way.. Or rude either ;)

Just throwin a wrench in the gears of the Deadly Flame Train that is on a track that may not be based in facts. And really is only based on Opinion.

I too would have thought Reg had I never seen the varients of Blues that not many show... And NO ONE sells those EBJDS that are like that... EVEN though they KNOW due to what they spawned and Raised and seen in the changes... Kinda LIke a Backwards Butterfly :)

I'm sure you do know a lot more about EBJD's and all JD's in general than I do. I am far from an expert. All I'm saying is that it does not exihibit the colors that my EBJD does and does not look like a EBJD should. I have zero way of knowing it's genetics and neither do you. I would not pay more the $15, that is not an insult to the fish. I just would want an EBJD to look like an EBJD if I'm going to pay the high price.

Well said :)

Exactly.. And that is why the general public pays the for the Cheap fish ;) And get the Cheap fish ;) BG's and what not COST ALLOT more than EBJD's ;) And they look nothing like them.. YET.. Most would pay 10x's More for a Fish that carries the gene ;) That is why EBJD's are SO cheap comparitively.

So If the fish is EBJD and he paid 50.00 KNOWNING that he is a Breeder.. Do you not think that the fish was worth the price? Why Do I say this? Because IT is WELL known that EBJD's regardless of color... Still CARRY the Gene and infact when bred to regs they Pass the Gene to ALL the fry.. Is that not worth 50.00? And regardles of his color .. His structure Bounces ugly balls off most most EBJD's.

Maybe to the general Public... But to a breeder.. WEll 50.00 is a minute price to pay.
