Hunter nabs largest gator in state history

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Gators aren't the ones destroying everything, its people.

Maybe they should ban gator hunting so that there's enough gators to control the human population. Makes more sense!

:duh:

What a shame, there is no reason to hunt a dominant male alligator, especially of his size. He had an established territory and wasn't likely to migrate to populated areas. He posed no threat to the general public, only those who went into the wetlands. Which in my opinion should be prepared to come across large alligators and act accordingly. The hunter should have spent his time hunting the roaming sub-dominant males that are looking for territory to claim.

Before anyone responds, I live in Illinois and my family are active hunters. It is necessary for game like deer, because we eliminated their predators. Without it they'll over populate and there will be massive starvation. But, in Florida, the alligators are the top of the food chain and keeping the ecosystem in check.

I really depends on how they are hunted, I have no idea how this one was hunted but when I have hunted them we use cabling and large Shark hooks and Dangle bait in the Water and then leave it, The gator bites into the Bait and is hooked, many times in the stomach where there is no other recourse but to kill them. So he may not of had an option in killing this one, depending on how they hunt them.

Saying my opinion is a redundant post? Last time I checked this forum is open to all it's users including those who have opposing views than yours. Your lack of maturity is only discrediting your argument. Yay!

no his immaturity is annoyin. his arguement still stands

lol. prob!

Its a shame such a big and old animal being killed...but look on the prespective guys, this gator likely generated many hatchlings during its life, so its genetics are assured and now the empty place he left behind will offer an oportunity for one or more animals to do the same and trive as well.
