damn anyway thanks everyone for your help in sexing my jds...it really helped i cant see why mfk rule because everyone is smart except me but whatever

Anyway i was thinking of maybe trading in one of my jd probably the smaller of the two and getting a male jd any tips on how to know what a male looks like in case i run into one at my lfs??????

Thanks again guys you guys rock:headbang2 :headbang2 :headbang2

Females based on gill plate. Spangling is way more than all males I have kept. I had the same question about mine and the gill plate seems to be the most relevant way to sex JD other than venting them. The fins are not always the best way to tell with these fish, especially if they are young.

i am sorry i didnt understand what you meant by this?????how do you determine a male jd

more blue in the face for males. its not always right on but it does help. the males usually have more blue from the gill plates to the mouth. females lack color in the face. obviously that is a very efective way when they are small but i am just trying to help another hobbyist as best i can!!

If ur doing that many water changes and its still cloudy then do these two things. 1 add algea tablits cause u may have floating algea u cant see. 2 get new carbon. carbon is ur best friend for cloudy water. as far as oil goes im not sure.

no but i did notice a lot of food at the bottom of the tank.when i got bak 4rm hospital. BTW the water is the only thing wrong with my tank.i cleaned the bottom very good!
