looks like a neat little plant! i couldnt tell you what it is though. what if you split it up, do you think you could achieve a carpet look that way? got any full tank shots?

if you were to split it up it would create more of a carpet and that makes it grow faster too i think what i heard the best way to plant it is in a grid, with each small bunch no more then an inch apart tp create the best carpet. and the picture he showed is hc just like glosso the more light you give it the lower it will stay.

another HC link

a tank that shows how fast it grows.......kinda does anyway.

which one of these two would you recommend to a beginner?
Hemianthus are easy to keep growing, glosso often dies even in advanced hands.

Frostyone, your pleco isn't a leopard pleco, it is a gold spot, or gold spot sailfin, often sold as commons, this pleco is L001, Pterygoplichthys joselimaianus.

I'm not going to split em up. We've got more coming in early next week and I'm going to buy them all :naughty:
Carpeting will be better achieved when plants are split up. This allows them room to grow.

Thanks for the info on the Pleco, either way he's pretty ;) and I'll take your advice and split them up. I was also thinking that I should put down some larger substrate on top of the sand where I want the carpet to be.

So am I crazy thinking I can replicate the work of Takashi Amano and create one of his amazing aqua forests? This idea has been in my head for months now and I've been itching to give it a shot.

Has anybody here tried to set up somethign similar? Results? I looked through this forum but I havent seen anything close. How hard would this be? Is it even humanly possible?

Also, how do I find out what plants he uses, like the ground cover? Its beautiful. I know, CO2, lighting, what else? Help me out here!

Here's some of my favorites from his gallery. I really like his setups that look like mountain landscapes with some simple groundcover and rockwork. STUNNING!
