You've got a very very very uncommon temprement in that dovii - I'd suggest anyone wanting to do the same be extremely cautious or try it out with fish you don't care about first.
my old breeding pair was really docile. they both measured at 35cms with the female slightly bigger. i even took out their eggs and frys with my bare hands, and they just move aside in their 6ft tank....
shouldn't have done it, coz 2 days later the female was stiff and scaleless.
well .... i'm off to look for mail order bride.
I'm happy to report that all seems to be doing well in Dovii land. He has tons of energy now and I can't believe how fast he can swim....it's amazing. He's so powerful I can see how a Dovii has the ability to kill other fish with ease if they want. I hope he doesn't turn bad and I'm still watching everything.

Nice shot. It looks like he's smiling in all your photos. You're right about their speed. I imagine he wouldn't even have to use his teeth to do major damage. He could just use that awesome speed to bump another. My old jag Tiny hit the side of the old tank so hard, I thought it was going to fall off the stand. Their power is surprising when they give you a glimpse of it.
Oh and as far as hitting the glass too hard, that's kind of scary. I wouldn't have thought it would be a possibility to break until I now see how much power he has. I'm glad I've got 5/8" glass.
Glad every thing is still good.Their speed is quite amazing.Put this all together with power, amazing maneuverability and an undeniably strong jaw structure and it makes for quite an appalling fish. It's a shame many people don't seem patient enough to get past the timid or shy juvie/sub-adult stage to experience all this at an older age.
