I think a lot of people confuse "supporting the troops" with "supporting the government" which is a damn shame. I was never in combat, but some of our exercises were pretty intense. I can only imagine what is like for soldiers out on the front lines, the things they see, and what they have to go through. And then to come home to a nation of indifferent aholes who don't even realize that we are still fighting, and that soldiers are still dieing, thanks to a "news" society that doesn't think this news is worthy just because people don't want to hear about it anymore. Maybe if they put daily death tolls at the top of every newscast the nation might get upset and demand an end to us inhabiting foreign nations that don't want us there in the first place.
Sorry about the rant.
The minute of silence is not the norm here in the US, at least not in LA, but this year I spent a great deal of time thinking about my time served, my buddies that are still serving, and all those spending their Veterans Day in Afghanistan, Iraq, all of the other foreign locations where our soldiers are serving and of course to those that sacrificed their lives so that I could enjoy the freedoms that I have today.
USMCTanker, I've seen you come and go on here over the years, seen you tear down some nice setups when you deployed, I have to tip my hat to you and say thanks.
