Incompatable tankmates that will never work. But do anyway (?).

I don't know if it's unusual or not but all my green terrors (past and present) have been in tanks with smaller fish and I've had no problems.

OB peacock in with my SB flowerhorn and blood parrot - all like eachother for the most part, the OB was bought as a dither for the flowerhorn to begin with. They won't allow any new fish in the tank either - not that there's room.

I used to have a longfin albino tiger oscar in a community tank with platies and he never bothered them, he did however eat a puffer that fell/escaped a quaratine and the puffer puffed after being swallowed and both died.

Some kind of hybrid alhi african in with my south american cichlids years ago, all got along fine.

I used to keep a jaguar and clown knife together, among other cichlids (pike, butikoferi) in the tank. It wasn't that they got along, but that they got along so well. They would share the same hiding places and space.....and these were both 9"+ fish.

A friend of mine around here has a 29 gallon, up and running for a couple years now. Kind of an odd mix:
1 green terror 2.5"
2 giant danios 2"
2 rift lake cichlids 2.5"
1 black skirt tetra
1 common goldfish (feeder size, and it does just fine)

and they all seem to live well enough together. For now.

Some 16 years ago, I've kept 2 goldfish, an oscar, and 2 angelfish together in a 30 gallon. Oscar grew to 6 inches and goldfish got as big as my fist.

9 inch oscar with two 2-3 inch blue gouramis

he lets them "clean" him and sit by him to pick off the scraps that come out of his gills when he eats

One of my customers has two rescued 12" red belly piranhas (their previous owner tired to kill them before he decided to just rehome them), and they live in a community tank with all kinds of other tetras, including neons! They've lived like that for years.

2 black skirt tetras with gt ebjd red texas delhezi and 2 4 line cats for about 3 months now......one of them disappeared

3 tiger barbs 2"
5 rosey barbs 3"
1 flowerhorn 8"
male and female jack dempsey 7-6"
5 sterbia cory cats 1.5 cm
a powder blue african cichlid 4"
sunshine peacock cichlid 3"
red tail botia loach 4"
blood red parrot 4"
common pleco 9"

had them all since they were about an inch, introduced them young and everyone is nice to eachother, although im noticing the flowerhorn getting a little aggressive.. will need a separate tank for him eventually. also had an oscar but he outgrew everyone in 7 months at 9.5" he went to a better home.
