Plus your idea won't work i'm sorry as frankly ur govt wld just ask u one thing. Why are u breeding them here and THEN shipping them back to asia?

and the answer to this would be BECAUSE NO ONE ELSE IS RELEASING FISH BACK INTO THE WILD

u dont understand with proper paper work and permits they are legal but its the process of gettingt these permits that kills everyone
Permits lol not gonna happen... I know this b/c unless you got that permit 10 years ago your not going to get it. I already called about it awhile ago b/c a lfs here as one and hes had it for over 10years didnt believe him so I called about it when I was asking about getting my sellers and breeders license he said its pretty much impossible to get plus you need lots of money to get it anyways. He also told me there are less then 20 people in the US that have one. Unless you bill gates I dont think its going to happen. Plus I know in FL at the rate they are going with people releasing 3-4 ft Silver Aro in the St. Johns river there is talk about banning them here but nothing is done yet they giving us a chance to get it right before they decieded. If FL does it that might mean other states will look at that. If they are already just thinking about doing that I doubt they will allow asian aro's in.

If u are a non profit organization, the cost of shipping the first batch back to asia will bankrupt u.

The reason why farms aren't releasing aros is very simple:

1. Farm bred aros will corrupt the wild population gene pool.

2. Poaching is extremely prolificient in these countries. Any released aros would just be caught and re sold.

3. As CITIES looks at asian arowanas as a species S.Formosus, the current wild population of wild greens and other lower grade asians that aren't poached are currently adequate and no need for any reintroduction program.

4. Its much safer to have a large population of captive breeding stock in case of a "what if" scenario. Plus the cpative stock can be kept safe and monitored much better than in the wild.

this whole debate is why we started the thread but it is not impossible to get permits ash and asians couldnot survive my climate they would all have to be inside and to respond to the one pond wont cut it one pond is the beginning of years of research like i said its just to help further the populations which if you go about it the right way and have friends in the right spots is the only way you could get a permit.... it is possible and we should try atleast otherwise it will go extinct in the wild!!!!!!! look i never said it was gonna be easy but you arent gonna make a difference going down the easy road are ya

and ash we wont be looking for a sellers licencse we wont be selling them
I said I called them and asked about it when I WAS looking for a sellers and buyers licencse to sell stuff as in for ME (re-read that) .... I just asked them about the bony fish one on the side, that is what I was told by botht the state and fish and game head. I could careless if no one believe me cuse I talk to them about it already.

so have i and they are ways its n=just as a private person wanting one you are screwed but now in the case i am talking about it is possible but verry hard to get i wouldnt run my lip about thi if i hadnt already talked to them.....................
I wouldnt either thats why I posted what I was told. Thats all I am posting is thats what they tell me. I didnt ask to own one privetaley I asked in any way they said the only other way to get one is if you are a zoo or fish and game doing research etc and you have to go through alot of check ups none the less this wouldnt be a zoo and b/c its not a zoo it is irrelvent. so thats why I say that b/c thats what I have been told. Ontop of that they will be chipped so it would be hard to do anything with them.

i'm curious on how a permit to breed aros in the US to ship BACK to ASIA would be approved when it could be done easily if set up in the native country.

The death rate from shipping would be a needless drop in reintroduced population.

Plus the red tape involved would prove more of a disadvantage then a help.
