You just keep rationalizing playing GOD by saying it is more humane for the fish I am sure that will save you from the fires of hell ;)

Lets be honest, the whole reason so many variations of the same fish exist is due to humans "playing God". Merely breeding two fish together to allow a recessive trait to become a dominant one is "playing God" ex. Electric Blue Dempsey. Look at how many variations of goldfish there are, all created out of a single fish. Look at all domesticated animals people keep, everything has been selectively breed. What is a mule? Selective breeding is just as much playing with genetics as is what this guy is doing.
As long as this guy's is conducting this experiment humanely; not just while conductiong the experiment but also by not choosing to sell them to people who aren't going to treat them well, and he's not going to release them into the wild. Then I think he's doing something awesome, and nothing to become infuriated at.
We should all be interested in these kinds of things and support them.

I like the idea myself. Plus, it could reduce the market for dyed fish. If it's safe and in no way hurts the fish then why not?

I do not approve of hybrids and blue dempseys pose no possible threat to the wild population of fish because it is a "recessive trait brought on by selective breeding".If a blue dempsey where released into the wild and managed to mate with another fish it would only create regular dempseys and the gene would be recessive once again.

You are doing this for one reason to make money or you wouldn't be seeing who is willing to "buy" them.

We will never agree on this subject that is for sure if you want to go fiddle with centuries of evolution for monetary gain be my guest but please do not be so arrogant as to claim you are helping the fish.

If you didn't want my opinion you shouldn't have asked for it in an open forum ;)

Your name is toxicfish of course you would

You have a right to believe it is ok and buy them just as much as I have a right to throw a fit when asked my opinion on them. :)

Guys I have edited some of the post in this thread.

We can all express our own opions as long as we are civil.

The exchange of Ideas is great as long as we don't start calling people names.
