I have the Bionic now and can attest to the awesome speed of 4G and since you dont have to pay any more for it then it is a valid request from customers. HUGE oversight on Apple's part I think.

All of the Nexus phones have been released in the December time frame so delaying the announcement slightly should not matter if they hold true to that release schedule. I have a phone up for upgrade in March so i will be watching this phone closely. Being a Nexus is only reason I woudl go back over to Samsung since they are normally slow to release updates. Being a Nexus means you get them first AND it is a dev phone so you can do whatever you want on it as well. WOOT

Yup, that's why I'm all giggity over this phone. If it weren't for being a Nexus device, I probably would have bought the Bionic, or maybe the Vigor which is coming out shortly. I played around with the Droid Charge and wasn't a fan of Samsung's UI. Give me pure Google/Android with no 3rd party crapware on it!!!!! I don't understand why Motorola/HTC/Samsung always feel the need to take the Android OS and smother it with crap. Just leave it alone!

Your going to have some bloatware on it but it will be able to be removed thanks to the openness of the platform. The original Droid 1 and most other dev phones had some bloatware on them just because....

I must say though that the blur on the Bionic is pretty decent. Not as obtrusive as blur in the past like on the X. I have yet to root the Bionic...

Yeah I'm still rocking the OG Droid! She's hanging in there. Out of Verizon's latest 4G devices I like the Bionic the most, but its camera was a POS. The Samsung Droid Charge has an amazing camera. And I agree with the Bionic's UI, not as bad as Samsung or HTC.

And just because we're talking Android, here's some screenshots of my D1 on Project Elite 6.5. Much cooler than iPhone's boring un-customizable layout :D

i have one of the first droids. i don't do much with my phone besides talk, text and use internet.

i heard the iphone 4 is gonna be $99

my only gripes about the droid after having it for a while now is that it's too heavy and i never use the slide out keyboard. would getting the iphone4 be a good idea?

That depends on how you use your phone. Judging by what you said, I think the iPhone would be a better choice for you. iPhone is put together in a great little package for the average user. But me, I love to tinker, tweak, and customize things. There's no way I could get an iPhone and live in Apple's sheltered little smart phone world they provide for you. I love the openness of the Android OS, and I love doing mods pushing the phone to its limits. It's almost like a little hobby for me.

Like those screenshots above, I spent hours making all those icons from scratch in Photoshop. Any sane person would never do that ha! I'm just a crackhead like that, and that's why I can't live with an iPhone. For me, the main reasons why I can never leave Android are:

- No Google turn-by-turn navigation on Apple, I use this A LOT!
- No memory card slot (I can install all my apps on my SD card and leave the internal memory free)
- Locked down OS
- Have to use iTunes
- No apps for downloading free music
- No Swype
- More issues when you jailbreak vs rooting an Android phone
- Easy to transfer files between the phone and computer, just hook it up with a USB cable and it's essentially a flash drive, drag and drop. Or I can transfer via Bluetooth, or Wifi via a server connection.
- No Flash support
- No 4G support
- etc etc

i use the navigation quite often too. what's the difference between the droid's and iphone's navigation?

this could be the deciding factor. maybe i'll get another droid that doesn't have the keyboard so it's not so heavy.

also, one thing i don't like is that some internet sites you go on has like a mobile version and it looks different from when you go on the site with a computer or laptop. is there a droid that doesn't do that?

Most of those websites have a link on the bottom to load up the default page... I believe Dolphin browser HD I have goes right to the default page instead of the mobile which is a setting in it.

As for navigation. Nothing compares to google nav IMHO. While others will get you where you need to go the Google maps/navigation is the most complete system out there. I have even thrown out dedicated nav units since they fail to compare to my phone. The ONLY instance (and why I still have one standalone nav unit left) is when you do not have a cell reception for a long time for whatever reason and you go outside the maps downloaded ot the phone as it only downloads so many at once. But even then you get the turn directions shown on the screen so you just have to look for the street names and once it reacquires cell signal you are back in business. This is issue with all phones though so not solely Android...

I agree. The iPhone will only give you a list of written directions. Google navigation is top-notch, and works better than GPS units. I don't even use my Garmin anymore, unless I'll be in an area where I know I won't get cell reception like when we go camping/off roading. You could buy a good navigation app for the iPhone, but they aren't cheap, and take up a lot of internal memory. And I love that you can use voice commands with navigation. Just say "navigate to Bob's Pizza, Anytown, CA" and it automatically starts. No typing in addresses or doing searches, very helpful when you're driving. Don't think I could ever live without Google Navigation.

And yeah with the websites, scroll all the way down, and you should see options for mobile/desktop versions.

thanks guys, i love the google navigation. i love that it talks to you and tells you to "exit in two miles" or that if you miss a turn it will reroute you. i'll stick with the droids. but i want another droid that doesn't have the keyboard and is all touch screen. do you guys have any recommendations?

i tried clicking on desktop version on one of the sites i go to and it just takes me back to the mobile version's home. the main page is not a mobile version, but when i go to forums it takes me to the mobile version and clicking on desktop version doesn't do anything. and there's no option to take me back to the sites main page. if i want to go back to the sites main page i have to do a new search to go there. hope that made sense
