iPhone pffft! THIS is the phone to have!!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
There will be a ton of used phones on the market here shortly as people upgrade during the holiday season. VZW and such will also most likely have their annual holiday sale which could save you a fortune on a phone.

great point! i think i'll wait for the holiday specials. only a couple more months

internet speed. what can i do to modify or upgrade?

Internet speed is dependent on two things, your network download speeds and the phone's processor.

Network speeds, 4G will blow 3G out of the water. If you have 4G in your area, or will soon, you might want to look at a 4G phone. It will make your web browsing experience much nicer. I've seen 4G speeds in my area from 12-18mbps, while 3G is 1-2mbps. That's a huge difference!

Also, a phone with more powerful internals will make the internet seem 'faster'. My gf has a Droid X with a better processor and double the RAM of my little Droid 1. Even though we're both on 3G, web browsing on her phone is a lot faster. Web pages load quicker and scrolling/zooming on content-heavy pages is great. MFK is a pain to use on my phone, the scrolling/zooming is very glitchy, even though my phone is overclocked to 1ghz (brought it back down to 800mhz). The Droid 1 was a great phone, but the truth is it's very underpowered for today's world. It takes a lot of juice to Android hiccup-free. My phone sits at 85% RAM utilization even while idling. I can't wait to get a new phone with 1gb of RAM!

it IS a pain to use mfk on the phone. i'm definitely gonna look into 4g. i believe it is covered here. that's a crazy huge difference in speed

btw, thanks soulpatch. got dolphin hd now, and clicking on desktop version worked. it's now my new browser

If you want to browse a lot of forums you might want to look into tapatalk as well. I dont personally use it but most of my friends do for their forums as they swear by it for the look and feel on a mobile platform.

4G is a huge difference in speed and I wish it was at my house but while at work I can browse as if I am on wifi. That said if you are around wifi most of the time you could get away with a newer droid with better internals for that faster browsing experience. As J said my Droid X blew away my Droid 1 and my current Bionic blows that away while they are all on 3G. It is a totally different game with the upgraded internals.

i was on verizon website right now and i typed in my address and we don't have 4g. i typed in my work address and it said yes. when i looked at the coverage map, it says LA, San Diego and Santa Barbara is covered. So i think getting a 4g phone isn't the way to go right now. I looked up the Droid Charge and almost everyone complained about the battery life. they said they have to charge every single night. and if they use it a lot, they have to charge twice a day.

what about the incredible 2 compared to the droid x2?

they said they have to charge every single night. and if they use it a lot, they have to charge twice a day.

LOL I'd say that's pretty darn good. Monster screen, monster processors, and hogging down 4G data like nobody's business will eat battery life, it's just nature of the game. I have to charge my phone towards the end of my work day. I'm just used to it by now. Battery life is not going to be great on any Android device. Need to go to iPhone for that, because the software is optimized for the hardware you get great battery life.

And also, Verizon is expanding 4G coverage on 10/20 and 11/17 to several new markets. Check their website for full list of future updates.
