Just not pets

I pretty much do, i get the pleasure from watching them do there own thing, not so much an interaction, which is why MOST of my collection of animals aren't pets. Especially none of my fish.

I agree. That's the nice thing about using max size enclosures, rather than the classic "what's the biggest herp I can keep in X cage". Big cage + lots of stimuli = more entertaining herps.

Well in my opinion , as long as u can provide to the needs of the animal and it lives a long happy life its ok. Just make sure u can care for it, keep it contained. and it is legal whats the harm?

Well thats nice but 99.9% of people can't and think the can get out of it for some reason. You are talking about a perfect world, and this is far from it.

Yea and thats the people who should not be able to take care of a fern let alone bigger herps.

I really doubt that 0.1% of the population can only care for larger animals. I think if people REALLY (notice the emphasis here) put their minds to it alot more could care for it. I mean, pretty much anybody could care for a large animal if they had the right space, time, money, resources, knowledge, common sense and love for the animal. But I agree, most are not WILLING to provide this, not incapable.

I think he was just stressing a point...that there are a lot of people that don't realize what they are getting themselves into.

I absolutely agree with you Jessica, if people really are willing to keep an animal within its acceptable range of care then they should not be restricted as to what they can or cannot have. The sad thing is that too many of these larger animals are "impulse" buys...that's where the problem lies.

Little Timmy goes into a petstore with Mommy and stomps his feet that he wants a Burm, and more times than not, Mommy gives in just to shut little Timmy up.

Yeah I do agree most dont realise what they're getting themselves into, but again if they had not impule bought and gave it a couple months or longer planning.. they could be good herp keepers

Very true.

It used to kill me when I would see the condition that green iguanas were returned to the store. I wanted to take them all home, but I knew I could not take care of them all properly...all because they are cute when they are young and short money.
