I agree with the others that suggest other smaller South American species.
An 80 gallon is too small for any large Central Americans.
But it really also depends on your water parameters, many South American Amazonian type prefer soft mineral poor water.
Central Americans work well if your water is hard and alkaline.
Some smaller Centrals from the genus Amatitlania would work, in an 80 gal, and are quite colorful.

With these species you could possibly have a couple groups, with dithers.
In an 80 gallon with many of the larger Centrals you'd be lucky to keep 1 individual, maybe a pair with nothing else.
