i don't think it is to far off as i saw a website that had 8" for $1200 and rich is a wholesaler aswell as a store and they get everything direct so it is dirt cheap...they make alot of cash off of all there fish...i know i should talk to him directly if i do try to order from them or atleast his son(i forgot his name)...i will try and find the website again...

Look Rich is grandfathered into Dolphin International because he has been buying from them since forever.But even dolphin will not sell a Wild Leo 10" from Brazil for 400,there is no one in brazil that will sell leo's for that price let alone a Henlei for that price{unless your willing to buy 20+ of the Henlei's you may be able to do that}

As far as preordering something just talk to firemedic about that.

I am a distributor and retailer i know what prices are running right now.
My guess is that 8" or 10" will turn into a 5" really quick,well maybe even 6" if your lucky.Depends on when they were born.

like i said i didn't talk to rich, but from the info i got and that guy has seen "the list"...i don't doubt the price, but the size is alway uped to give it more value...if they say 10" i would think it was 7-8"...expecially when it comes to the rarer stuff...and i don't doubt what you are saying...

Was I questioning your ability? I asked for Nitrate #s. I keep rays and know that most people lie through thier teeth when it comes to Nitrates. I don't question anyones ability, I just ask questions.

As far as the Aros most people can't house or feed 8 adult Aros. Most people don't realize thier capability to hit 1.5' the first year.

Sounds to me like you have it all figured out so there's no need for any more of my input.

Good luck with the breeding. Hope it's as easy for you as everyone makes it out to be. I find it to be much more diffficult then others led on.

While I agree with the theory of drip systems and how much more beneficial they are, there are some exceptions that show it isn't absolutely necessary. Lincolngoh for one. He has a 6 x 4 x 2 tank with 10 large (Gorgeous) rays and 1 or 2 aros. He only runs 1 Eheim Canister, slum/sump and a PowerHead. With 70% water change every 5-6 days.
For some it just isn't feasible whether it be from tank/pond location or routing. So hose and faucet is the only option.:(
Just food for thought.

it seemed like you were in how you were questioning...these aren't my first aros...i have had a silver that got to 24"+ in 10 months so i am well awere of their capability and i am not most people...don't get me wrong i understand your concerns, but not everyone is inexpirenced...the pic in my avatar is of one of my tanks...like i said i am not new to fish keeping...i know breeding isn't "easy", but i will give them every change and extra mile i can to help the cause...as i plan to try to breed the aros aswell witch is extremly difficult...it seems that we both are/were taking eachothers replies the wrong way...i just get pissed when people don't think i no what i am getting into and that i don't know what i am doing when i do...

thats what i was tring to get at, but i geuss i didn't type it right...

Lets be practical. Seriously, forget about attempting aros, it's just not going to work...we have so many people that have tried, even with larger more expensive high tech setups that couldn't get this to work after many years. It's not that its extreme hard, its that we have no idea how to get them to start except by throwing like 30 in a pond and hoping for the best...

i can still try...just like breeding gars...it could be done...i have some ideas i will try...ex. simulating the wetseason and so on...asian aros can be captive bred so why couldn't silvers?...i have 8 going into a pond...it could happen...if it never happens i tried, but i still have my aros...i am sure there once was a time long ago that captive bred rays seemed far fetched, yet they are bred all over...it is just a matter of tring and tring some more till we figure it out...

Unless you've got alike a concrete pond the size of your house with like 30 aros in it, I don't see how this is going to work anytime soon. Even the public aquarium in UK went through 17 years before 4 fry were actually produced.
