Lfs complaint

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
This is my issue 25% is more than fair. If your fish died tomorrow you could get store credit. If your old fish died tomorrow they would lose money. Just saying be grateful they took it in and they are open for business. Many LFS have closed down with plenty of people on here who don't have one near them. I have donated fry to my lfs since I didn't want to deal with selling them at the time.

I'm just saying when you give me $60 store credit and then charge $225 for what I gave you that is ridiculous. Especially for common fish

I think thats just smart business practice for by them. Ridiculous is the fool who pays $225 for the common fish.

The other day I was in one of my LFS and saw that they had a 12'' atabapo fire pike cichlid (never seen one in a shop) with pretty bad HITH. It was an obvious customer drop off/trade in. I inquired about it for a friend thinking that I could send him in there and he might grab it for max $100. When I asked the guy behind the counter he said that it was for sale for $275 !! Out of this world......

Then they wouldn't get my fish. I feel like if I purchase the fish from them and take care of it, feed it and what not then if I bring it back for whatever reason and it is in good health then I should get something in return. I do not expect a lot but when you give me say $5 store credit then I go in there in a week and the same fish you gave me $5 for you have for sale for $60 it pisses me off. I understand an LFS has to make money but a $55 profit like mine is doing, makes me sick!

Ignorance runs free. They won't make $55 straight profit on it. For larger fish especially, it takes them time to sell a fish. They have to feed and provide space for it. This costs money. They have overhead, obviously. It kills me to see what people "expect" stores, not just lfs, to do for them.

I bought a 3 inch rtc, kept it until it was 8 inches, it ate my fish, so I traded it in. I initially paid 30 dollars for it but he traded me a juvie green terror and a sponge filter. A total of around 15 bucks. Then he turned around and priced said RTC for 60 dollars. haha

It's all opinions so it doesn't matter. I just know whenever I go to change out a fish again I am going to try to sell it to another fish keeper. I will never take it to my LFS again. I've given them some very nice fish and they don't take care of them properly and they've killed a lot of fish I've given them. And like I said I don't expect much but I expect them to give the fish a good, temporary home, which they usually do not. Again this is just MY LFS, I'm not bashing any other store just the one I directly deal with.... This is the same store that took a 14" clown knife for $20 and WILL NOT sell it for less than $150 and he's had it over a year and has had it in a 40 Breeder. Just in it for profit not for the fish.

And the other thing is these ignorant people around here pay $50 a piece for Severums. So he usually doesn't have any of the fish more than a week. So he has hardly nothin invested in them.
