Long finned blue eye lemon BN

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
At the minute, mine are preferring to eat mussel meat than vegetables and it is ensuring full bellies all the time. I keep their tank well stocked with trumpet snails so any food not eaten in a day by the fish gets eaten by the sails making food waste fouling a none issue , I just have to keep up to weekly water changes due to snail and fish waste.

Nice!!! I have not fed muscle meat to any of my fish. I do fed them 1 shrimp pellet 2x’s a week between 40 fry lol

I keep IAL in my breeder box with the fry from the day they have their yolk sacs until they eat it leaf, which usually takes them 4-6 weeks.

Okay so it’s been a while since I’ve updated this thread.

I lost two batches of eggs/fry from the lemons.

I raised one batch of lemons to about 1.5 inches and sold them. (Pics below).

I’m currently raising my second batch of lemons that hatched about a week or so ago.

my original LF browns have all been sold except the couple I am keeping. (Pics below)

I have a second batch of browns I’m currently raising as well.

Last batch of lemons (gone now)

Updated parent pics

Wheeler is the male with the longest bristles and the dad of the of the current batch of lemons I’m growing has the smaller bristles. Dad #2 is called sucky. Sucky only has one bent fin as oposed to wheeler have both bent fins. None of the offspring have curled or bent fins.

I only have one pic of the female that mates with wheeler. I call her belle

So it’s been a little bit of crazy over here this past couple of days!
It’s a good thing I took the last batch of bn pleco fry in to the lfs last week bc holy moly I’m about to be out of tank space....

currently growing out a batch of lemons (4 weeks old, getting re-homed two weeks)

male sitting on eggs just hatched and he’s still gathering them in the cave, thankfully! (He also might be a bad dad and ate some of the fry and or eggs bc it is a small batch)

male sitting on eggs as of yesterday, medium sized batch, though he may eat some too. This batch I really want! It’s more lemons

im not sure if I told you or added this to my thread but I revised two very large females that I’ve named meatball and beefcake. Meatball was purple when she came into my home with nitrate poisoning I’m assuming. Since being in my care for two weeks she has almost returned to her normal color. My plan was to re-home her as soon as I deemed her fit. I was thinking about two weeks away. Beefcake was looking much better and I had planned to keep her as she is an albino with less pattern and more of a solid golden base.

well I came home today two of the new females we’re fighting for a cave they both couldn’t fit into and the male was also trying to get in with them. The male is super small in comparison. It was a scrap for which female could lay her eggs! Well when I came home from the dog park I found meatball looking thin and saw she laid eggs for the little male and she was going back in for what looked like round 2 or 3 of egg laying. She’s so big and he’s so small they both cannot fit into the cave and take turns in the cave.

First day home, tested 80ppm of nitrates in their pervious water
