So it’s been a little bit of crazy over here this past couple of days!
It’s a good thing I took the last batch of bn pleco fry in to the lfs last week bc holy moly I’m about to be out of tank space....
currently growing out a batch of lemons (4 weeks old, getting re-homed two weeks)
male sitting on eggs just hatched and he’s still gathering them in the cave, thankfully! (He also might be a bad dad and ate some of the fry and or eggs bc it is a small batch)
male sitting on eggs as of yesterday, medium sized batch, though he may eat some too. This batch I really want! It’s more lemons
im not sure if I told you or added this to my thread but I revised two very large females that I’ve named meatball and beefcake. Meatball was purple when she came into my home with nitrate poisoning I’m assuming. Since being in my care for two weeks she has almost returned to her normal color. My plan was to re-home her as soon as I deemed her fit. I was thinking about two weeks away. Beefcake was looking much better and I had planned to keep her as she is an albino with less pattern and more of a solid golden base.
well I came home today two of the new females we’re fighting for a cave they both couldn’t fit into and the male was also trying to get in with them. The male is super small in comparison. It was a scrap for which female could lay her eggs! Well when I came home from the dog park I found meatball looking thin and saw she laid eggs for the little male and she was going back in for what looked like round 2 or 3 of egg laying. She’s so big and he’s so small they both cannot fit into the cave and take turns in the cave.
First day home, tested 80ppm of nitrates in their pervious water
Difference in male and female size

the tussle I came home to, it was very heated

The female only half done laying eggs
