My mom's been in law for 33 years and she would tell you to write everything about what's going on down. Then go back through it and take out anything that conveys emotion. Great to go back on. Good luck!
 
Make sure you write to your local newspaper and news channel. Most news stations eat up stuff like this and will show up at his place of business to question him.

It's a small claim. Most states don't allow lawyers in small claims court.
 
I sent this message via email to the store:

"A friend of mine named Kevin recently put down a deposit at your store for a custom aquarium, over two thousand dollars. He stated that you told him an employee stole the money. When you take a deposit on a for profit sale, you are liable to deliver the goods or refund the deposit. Your store will be boycotted until you refund the deposit or deliver the goods. Every interested party I know will hear about this until the situation is resolved."

You should not mention where you live. They will assume you are local.

FYI, they really don't have a retail type store open to the public. I believe at this point they work out of their homes. That is total bull**** his response, I can't belive what a bunch of pricks these guys are being.....
 
I am shocked. I guess money now is more important than money later.
