Thought I'd take a few videos of the little bastards when I got home after i fed them... i noticed almost 2 months ago the motas teeth were growing pretty gnarly for such a little guy at the time.. and in the video you might be able to see just that.. it seems as if though his top tooth has grown so much its dug a divot into his bottom lip lol
The next video I took right after the first one... the aggression in the video doesnt look too bad because when I put the phone to the tank they get distracted, but you can see a bit of an altercation going on between the 3 of them.
Right after I stopped recording they really went at it... I'd say the past 10 days it's gotten a bit dicey and now although they still keep there distance from the Jack's side of the tank.. when she passes that half way line they all start defending themselves... the midas actually just went at the jack somewhat liplocking...
I am trying to learn or understand atleast what makes them aggressive towards eachother... I know....they are aggressive territorial cichlids... but it seems the majority of the battling hasto do with food!
The jack knows she gets food from me... the reason why she doesnt jet away when I put my hand in the tank (she follows it) because she thinks shes getting food... so even when I sit next to the tank she becomes somewhat aggressive to the other 2... kind of like "get away from him! Hes bringing me food!".
Then when the midas and mota try to get some pellets that float over to her side she chases them off.. they try and sneak over, bumping into one another and the 2 young males start fighting because their both after the same thing.
Starting tommorow I'm going to try feeding in opposite ends of the tank.. see if that works for part of it? When the lights go out.. it's odd! They just relax and hang out.. literally floating side by side like they dont even notice eachother.. either way I have my 75 gallon to start up incase I need it.. the next battle will be deciding who gets moved over and why (if or when need be)... any tips are welcome! The tricky part is just about to start.
