I read a comment saying it was premature. (Krichardson)no one here argued that it was an unjustified stoppage
Deliniation between a flash ko and a ko to me seems like splitting hairs. He got hit on the button and for fighter safety, it was stopped. I think it was a justified stoppage. Letting a fight go too long would be a dangerous move for the sport and back to being banned it would go. In that aspect, I'd rather have a fight stopped too early than too late and something bad happens. I think Fedor was attempting to grab Herb Dean as Hendo was running around (shown in other angles besides the one you posted), and as you mention in a later post, Fedor looked wobbly.SumoNinja said:and it's nice how you only show pics of part of the stoppage. still pics and shots of the whole thing in action can be very misleading which in the case of your post, kinda seems like that's what you intended to prove your point. but why don't you post a pic of where fedor turned around and started protecting himself. and you, just like the commentators, completely ignored the fact that after the first punch that dropped fedor for a split second, there were 2 punches that he hit fedor directly to the back of the head with which are illegal and the ref jumps in just as fedor turned around.
here's the fight in it's entirety. it may be pulled soon for copyright since zuffa owns sf now, but anyways, it clearly shows that it was a flash ko, which if you are an mma fan and have been watching and are not retarded, will know that many fighters have been flash ko'd and was able to come back into the fight.
I think he stopped it around the same time, but it took hendo a second or 2 to stop hitting (seems to be his usual). The hits to the back of the head were illegal, absolutely, but it's an infraction that often goes unpunished concerning the end of a fight.the fight gets stopped at about 10:57. The one punch that drops fedor is at 10:55. so about two seconds after the punch herb jumped in but that's when fedor turned around to defend himself and fight back but it was already too late. but right after the first punch, the next 2 are to the back of the head, and i know fedor was hurt from the first punch, but the 2 illegal blows hurt him even more

Get into what? Whether Fedor's competition was on the same level as him? I think it's pretty obvious that it wasn't. There weren't many really good heavyweights at that time, and there was one great one. My comment on his relevance goes to an overall lay of the land. What does a win over Fedor mean now? Not much. Kinda the same as a win over Iceman at the end of his career. I mean... it's just not the same as fighting them in their prime. I am not a troll, a hater, and I do know what I'm talking about. It just happens to be a different opinion than yours. That does not invalidate the opinion.SumoNinja said:i don't think you wanna get into this with me. although you say you are a fedor fan, i usually ignore people who try to downplay fedor's competition, his legacy and his career. to me they are simply trolls, blind biased haters or flat out just don't know what they are talking about.
Can't argue a ~10 year no loss streak. He will always be a legend, no doubt.SumoNinja said:and about fedor being relevant, we need to clarify
1. he is relevant and always will be a figure and a legend in mma
Noooooow you see what I'm saying. I said that Fedor fighting sub par fighters was a way to make himself irrelevant, and when he lost to one of them, it would hurt his status. The loss to Werdum people saw as a fluke, and everyone gets caught. But the Silva fight really showed what I was saying. The reason was he was outweighed by 60lbs. If you lose like that, you just don't carry the same swagger. The loss to Hendo and you're saying he should retire. Now he outweighed Hendo by 16lbs. Was I wrong for seeing this happening a few years back?SumoNinja said:2. is he relevant as far as rankings? i would have to say at this point, no. when you first mentioned it, i disagreed, simply because it was too soon to say, and i don't jump on or off bandwagons after 1 or 2 losses to top competition like werdum and giant silva. but now, i would have to say he has fell off the top 10 and i do feel that he has done his part and has nothing left to prove, and should retire
My comment about cutting Fedor was clearly a joke. Although, he is at the end of his contract, and I'm not sure he'll sign again.
