Mouth full of tank water....

I'm not sure if I mentioned this before or not, but my hose is black and I'm for dam sure not going to go get another 25' just so I can see through it.. I really didn't consider it when I purchased it... retarted me!

No matter what you do, some will always get swallowed...

You don't have to be able to see the water. First make sure all other water is drained out of the hose first. Stick a couple of feet hose into the tank, making sure the end of the hose is under water. Kink the hose on the outside of the tank as close to the tank as you can. Pull the hose back so the end is just below water line and the kinked area is well below water line. Release the kink and you now have started the siphon. You can now move the end of the hose to whatever part of the tank you choose to siphon/vacuum.

You can also place you thumb over the end of the hose instead of kinking. Move end of hose to bottom of the tank, place thumb over hose. Pull hose out of tank leaving only the end and your thumb is the tank water. remove thumb and the siphon will start.

Lol, I know her tank may be the dirtiest ever but I finally learned how to get a siphon going in under 10 seconds. First saw it like 2 years ago. It's hilarious how she takes in as much gravel she can.

This is basically what I do, only I do it much faster and I don't block the opening. I just place the end of the hose in a bucket, dunk the tube in the tank, lift it out of the water and let it drain half out of the tube, and dunk again.

I find this method is not only a lot more sanitary, but the water seems to flow a lot faster than when I tried the suck method

But in my situation, I have a 25' hose.. so I can't syphon with the tube and hold the hose at the door of my house... so basically I put the tube in the tank, put the glass lid down to hold it.. and suck at the other end which is outside the front door...

Happens all the time, that's why I always keep a cold Red Stripe handy. Kills the taste and disinfects my mouth.
