MY achilles! :D

NOT happening! :grinno:

You couldn't do it anyway. The achilles is going to be as aggressive as the purple was anyway. Same with a Black tang.

I have a sweet Atlantic Blue tang I would put towards a trade for the purple :naughty:

Yes, it most likely is overkill, I will admit, if I could do it over I might choose to get 7's instead. I did have problems at first, but I seem to have figured them out and now am very glad I put them in. I do not feel like I have too much flow, and my fish seem to be enjoying the currents, particularly the tang. I have 3 4's running with the 2 8's as well as my return pump from my sump, so I have multiple points to create random flow.

I also feel that 2000 gph total flow on a 210 is way way too little despite that being the "standard" even for a fowlr tank let alone a reef.

I'm glad you sorted it out. As for total flow, I only ever use it as a guidline (and in FOWL its not as important), I tend to get a general flow patter with a controller (try to imitate back and forth waves so my controllers pump one way then the other) and then have a few small ones to change it up in stagnant areas or where I need higher flow for corals.

And with FOWL I like to up the flow in one or two places so the bigger fish can "treadmil" to increase exersise without lenghtening the tank.

Not disagreeing with you by any means. I pretty much just add and move stuff around until I feel I have what I want flow wise. I'm sure that will change when I actually get a good amount of corals in there too. For the time being at least I am not messing with any wavemakers, but might get into that once my tank is fully stocked and growing.

Update on the dead wrasse fiasco. He emailed me back about the dead wrasse from today and he is going to ship me one free of charge including shipping which isn't their policy. Seeing as how the first time was really my fault(though he doesn't know that) and now the 2nd time was not my fault I am glad he is taking care of it. He said I have to give him a little time to make sure he has one he feels is fully ready to ship. I find this interesting because I would think that should always be the case? I also don't have a lot of time as I have said before. It has been over 2 weeks now and a female could change to a male at any time.

I must say the guy has been helpful and friendly, I will give him that. Just not the most professional or on top of things too often.

I only like using wave makers (or in this case controllers for my powerheads) because I feel they have more benifits in a reef environment as the flow changes direction it cleans debree off both sides of the corals and stirs the water more. But I doubt I would use one in a FOWL partly as I don't feel its nessisary and they are way to expencive for an unnessisary addition lol. My next trick is going to be to try to jerry rig them together some how so I can put more then 4 powerheads per controller... (to save money on them).

No way they are that agressive dude.

Seen them kept in smaller tanks with passive tangs.

And you can keep your ballooned atlantic blue ha. I only buy small fish. :D

Wave maker as in actual waves in tank? I love the way that works, and the flow it creates...however...they say that that is bad for the joints/seems in glass tanks. So, just be careful with that.

I have two mag 6's (koralia) in my 125g, plus a little under 1200gph from the returns. I still need to add MORE flow in my mind, probably in the form of two koralia 4's.

Would love to replace the 6's with vortechs, but this would set me back $1500 the way I see it haha.

He never was ballooned. He is perfectly healthy. The purple tang I tried to save was the one with bloat. I also knew you didn't want the blue, not rare, too big, and you've already kept em before.

What is ur return pump? I thought it was a mag 12? I doubt you are pushing close to 1200 with your overflow. I wish I could test how much is flowing through mine, but I highly doubt mine is more than like 700 gph despite it being a 1200 gph overflow and using a mag 18 as a return. I do have some horizontal run from my pump to the tank though.

you definately do not have good luck.

i am doing the same thing with 1200gph overflow and mag 18. im only going to use 2-1400 gph powerheads.

i bought a mag 8 for 300g fresh tank with sand. had to take it out immediately, sand was everywhere.

do yourself a favor. if u do corals dont do sps's . i would take it all back if i could and stick with softies and lps's. sps's can be a huge headache. i love the looks of sps's but they are so touchy, i just dont have the time to dedicate to them that they need. just my opinion.

btw, if i didnt tell u yet. i like your setup.

im only going to do soft and lps in my 125 when its ready. i plan on moving my leathers over from my 30g. if i can get them out.

@Dustin... oh yea. Forgot. Already had a blue...guess I will just be trying to re-add the purple in like four weeks.

:D

@Mos SPS are da bomb...I cant wait for the whole top of my 125g to be covered. Stability is key man. I know when you lost yours you were experimenting with a lot of different high tech stuff. Once you get your reef set up the way you want it and running for a long period of time, try again. They can be super fun.
