  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Yes it comes with certificate and it says that it is a High Back Gold.
Now Tobias,The High back.is hybrid. It is a cross of RTG and Xback.Im not sure but i think the HBRTG has more RTG features such as reder tail And the HB gold
more xback features and will have lesser redness on the tail and the gold will be better.Im not so sure..But im 500% sure there is a difference. In Qian Hu's product list you can see both names separately meaning they are different

Well different farms uses different names on their arowanas. To me this is more of a branding thing rather then an indication of being a different breed. To me there is two types of golden aros, one is the RTG and the other is the Xback. Other then that its just hybrids due to cross breading of the former two.

I mentioned before that HBs being the crossing of XB and RTG are only a rumor. No one actually reads too much into it because it's too convenient. http://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/f...9-Is-this-a-good-price-for-an-Asain-aro/page3

QH High back golds are SHBRTG. Many farms have their own marketing names for their aros. At the end of the day, RTG and XB are still the same species, Scleropages formosus. They have visual differences but only because of superior genes. RTG, HBRTG, SHBRTG are just golden aros that didn't make the grade to become XBs.

From my understanding, when aro farming first began in the 70s, all golden aros were call golden aros. Up to the early 90s there wasn't any RTG or XB just golden Arowanas on the cert. But to mass clear the inferior Aros without lowering the price for premium ones, the farms started the RTG and XB label so that they could lower the price of inferior aros without harming the prestige of premium ones. RTGs were basically culls they wanted to sell. Over the years, some RTGs offspring started to show better shine lvl, so to grab this money making opp, they made the name HBRTG and the cream of this lot (with any broods they will be better and worst ones.) turn into SHBRTG. Moral of the story, RTG, HBRTG and SHBRTG are the same fish, one pair of adults could produce all 3 in one brood, they all begin life as children, grand children, grand grand children, etc, etc, of XB culls. XB themselves have different grades rated by As. Example, A, AA, AAA or A, A+, A++ sometimes both AA++. There is a reason why XB cost so much more then any form of RTG (although locally the gap is becoming smaller)

Most of the above info what I learned. It may not be 100% accurate, but I was around when there wasn't such a thing as RTG and XB just golden aro so at the very least that part is true.

FYI: ur tank white should be super clean white. Creamy white is not gonna help much with WTT because the point is to make the environment whiter then white. Also, u will need to WTT at least until 15", target should be 18" before you do BTT because any less time in WTT, the results will be temporary only. Keep that in mind because most ppl who complain WTT is just temporary are mostly ppl without enough patience to see it through.

So you mean the Green & Red aro (also Scleropages Formosus) is also the same fish just having less superior genes? From my understanding RTG is originating from Indonesia while the Xback comes from Malaysia.
