My new bichir is sick please help!!!!!

No I have not moved it yet. I did do a 30% water change yesterday and rearanaged the rocks and added some drift wood..I just got him less then a week ago. And he passed on me bout an hour ago ):
Hard to tell from the pictures, but did you leave some space for him to get air? Almost looks like the water is almost to the top.
He was in a little plastic breeder box in the pic only way I could isolate him from the others..but he was floating at the surfice so had plenty of air its just strange he was fine last nigh when I left for work and he's dead a by 11 this morning and none of the others show any signs or symptoms of illness
Theyre main diet consists of hakari carnivore pellets, and every other day I give them some kind of meaty treat..I try to give them a large variety.. And I saw him eat the night before he passed
