my plywood tank build

pics as promised...we got the finish wood for the tank, stand and canopy cut today, later on tonight we're going to be putting the finish wood on the tank, and hopefully the stand as well. The inside of the tank needs at least one more coat of krylon fusion, but I am waiting to do that until we can put the inside frame around the top and the front. I'm just itching to get this done, and I wanted to get the finish wood on it, cause nice, warm days are getting fewer and fewer, and I want to be able to poly it when we have the next on, cause it may be the last for awhile...but we'll be back at it after the chief's game is over, my husband saw they were on and we just HAD to take a break ...

What exactly did you cover the drylok with again? "krylon fusion" What exactly is it?

it's a spray paint, it was mentioned earlier when I was saying that I wanted to make the tank black (with epoxy paint). It's made to bond to plastic, but it is fish safe after 7 days, a lot of people use it on terracotta pots and decorations in their tank.

We got all the finish wood put on except he sides of the tank, and the canopy is just about done too, it's almost ready for trim, glass and silicone.....yipee!

Also, after we put another coat of drylok on the tanks after the backerboard was installed I have no more worries about the drylok chipping off, I don't know what the problem was but it seems perfectly fine now, so I don't think we'll be using epoxy now after all.

well it is supposed to be nice today and tomorrow, so I am going to try and get the wood stained today and get the polycrylic on it tomorrow, I'll try to take some pics of all the finish wood up today...

You should seal the outside of the sump with drylock as well, just a little piece of mind.

we sealed the outside of everything with polyurethane, it's not fish safe, so we couldn't use it on the inside, but I didn't want the moisture to get to ANYTHING, so there is about 2 gallons of poly on each tank/stand to keep the moisture out.
