My tank is failing . . .

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
. . . Are you sure you want the manufacturer that built the acrylic to build your glass? I think you mentioned that? . .

I have a glass 125 std and glass 42g custom from them, plus a custom 20g acrylic sump. Those have all been fine.

These are made with bare min thickness
For there size
Bowing will happen unless tank is overbuilt my 300 would need to be 1 inch thick to get less bowing and my 125 would need to be 3/4
But imagine the cost of that tank

That Would make me uncomfortable but it seems you have them in the garage so maybe that takes away the concern. If OP’s tank bursts in the house, that’s a nightmare. The builder went too thin For the height of the build

Where I live earth quakes are regular occurrences, and after one of the 5.5 tremors, my tank came apart at the seams enough to leak half dozen gallons per day.
After the re- seal, and a few more smaller tremors, I added these two 24 inch clamps permanently to give piece of mind.

Not aethsetically pleasing, but since the clamps were added, it only seeps a little when hit directly by the sun, and after being hit with a few more tremors.

I have known a few aquarists that build an aesthetically appealing, snuggly fitted, strong, hard wood frame around the outside, (bottom, top, and sides) to help decrease bulging, and hold the tank together.

This tank (on the left) was nice and square when it was new last May.

The bulge at the middle of that face is now still over 3/8" with the water let down 5".
There's slight crazing and a million tiny bubbles at the seams all over.

I took some Hi-Rez photos of the seams but they are difficult to post here. Every seam on the tank appears to be developing these tiny bubbles.

I sent my notes and photos in to the manufacturer today. We will see what they decide to offer me.
I want them to build me a glass tank from scratch, for free, and drill it.

If they give you a tank for free then I might just have to order that same acrylic tank you ordered and hope they do the same thing on it.

You’re brave...I would’ve emptied that tank and moved the fish elsewhere by now. Water damage is no joke. Manufacturer better do you right....that’s a load of BS for a tank to fail like that
