So I have a male and female dovii both about 6 inches. They got along for a few days then the female went ape **** on my male took some fins and left a gash. He is healed up now and I have them separated with light defuser. I figured since the male is not aggressive with the female I just need him to be bigger than her for this to work. So what could I do to get him to out grow her as far as feeding or water changes. And recently my female is showing alot more blue idk if that means anything. And last what is the best temp to keep the tank for dovii?

Feed a quality pellet with the odd treat, big water changes, temperature around 78, and have patients, also if she is dominant he may be stressed which will slow his growth down, and what size tank

It's 80 gallon. I'm having a new tank built but it's gonna be awhile longer b4 it's ready. And I guess they were fighting at night cuz they hide all day

I would get rid of the female, a 80 gal won't house 2 6inch dovii, if your new tank is going to be longer then 2 month then I would sell both and wait till your ready

Not gonna do that it's hard to get big dovii her I paid 80 dollars for her. But what I can do is put them in 2 different tanks. My sister has a 75 gallon tank she said I could keep. So I could separate them pretty soon just need to setup and get it cycled. I was thinking about doing it already just didn't want to keep them apart if I didn't have to :(

Agreed, I'm of the school of thought that Dovii's should be housed in a 500-600 gallon minimum.

How big is the future tank and how long before its up and running

300 gallon I don't remember the exact measurements. 500 600 gallon is a bit much if they need that much tank I might rehome them both. Stick with my cons and bichir.
