The pond is out of commision for an indefinate period of time at the moment. I went to check up on it at the pond store (where it was being temporarily housed with my fish and all) and my Planiceps was dead from unknown causes and the other two were looking in bad shape. I made an emergency call to the dallas world aquarium and arranged for an immediate donation of the remaining fish which was a 26" TSN and my 22" Lima Shovelnose. I am very sad to have to see them go but at least I know they went to a good home and I didn't want to force them back into my 240 due to limited space for them and for my other fish being at risk due to their size.
I am far from done with indoor ponds and I would expect my new pond to be up and running sometime towards the end of april with a completely different design that is more functional and more aesthetically pleasing. I am most sad to find my planiceps dead, that fish took me over a year to track down and was easily one of my favorite fish of all time. I know that next time I'm planning on growing out 2-3 of them and hopefully I will never have to break down the pond in this fashion again. I am looking for baby shovelnose to begin growing out as we speak so if you know of any Planiceps, Filamentosum, Goslinea, Tigrinus, wild caught TSN, or brachyplatystoma sp available feel free to let me know via PM. Thanks ~Trent
