New Addition

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
This guy continues to get healthier and healthier. He comes out to the front of the tank every time I walk in the room to beg for food. Most of the red wigglers don't even get a chance to get to the bottom before he gobbles them up. Still feeding four in the morning and four at night. I think that's a pretty good amount for him at this point.
Haha I was going to tell to do earthworms too that's all my fire eel will eat to but that's honestly better than blood worms so congrats haha

I'm hoping that once I move him in with the others he will start eating a lot of the stuff that they eat. However, the red wigglers are pretty easy to work with, and are pretty cheap. My other two fire eels eat red wigglers, frozen bloodworms, frozen cut up market shrimp, frozen krill, and even nibble at the frozen beef heart. They won't touch pellets though, but I don't expect them to.

Makes me want to go to my pets mart and try some red wigglers out on my peacock eel all it ever eats is blood warms and that's only what he can get too before all other fish eat them. Maybe a fire eel would be a good addition to my tank they look awesome

How big is your tank? Fire eels can hit 40".

Great to hear everything is working out for this little guy :). I agree, this one will develop some awesome markings as he grows.

O

For future reference, do you think a 180 or 220 gal tank is big enough for a fire eel?
