Is that the canopy on top? That thing must weigh a ton, how many people did you bribe to help you move that beast?

Nice pick up!!

If you want to run a 12k gph pump, cut the teeth on the overflows. I did that to my 450. I cut every other tooth so the overflow could handle the flow of the pump. I'm running a Dolphin ES5500 which pushes 5500 gph. As of right now from where the water level is and the flow rate, I think I could be running a more stronger pump if I wanted too. Just something you might want to look into if you want to run those pumps. Just make sure your drains are big enough to handle the flow rate as well.

It's not the teeth I'm worried about. It's the diameter of the pipe in the overflow. Don't know what other choice I have other than trying to make the holes bigger. I think the pipe being used was a lousy 1 1/4 on each overflow. So yeah..... (2) 1 1/4 is what it has for drains.

Yes, it's the canopy on top. I removed all the doors for the trip home so they wouldn't flop in the wind.

I was told 1100lbs empty. Well I lined up 10 people. I was told I would need 8. So I recruited a few more trying to compensate for the "flake" factor. My calculations were off. Saturday morning the phone calls started coming in with various excuses of why the people that said they'de help for the last few weeks couldn't. I left to go get the tank on a Saturday with 2 buddies after I loaded up my 180 to deliver on the way. I recruited 3 more with a phone call to an old car audio buddy down in the town it was picked up in.

Well I got about an hour from home and the car following me with my 2 buddies in it called me and said the truck was smoking. Trans fluid everywhere. I left the truck, trailer, and 180 gallon tank at a gas station for the night and returned home.

The next day the 2 guys that actually made the trip the prior day flaked. I had to call on a local watering hole (bar) aquaintance to drive my truck back. Luckily the stereo guys were still up for it. So the 5 of us were able to lift the front of the tank and stand onto the trailer and pushed it the rest of the way up. Strapped it down and 2 hours later I start the truck ready to leave. By this time it's dark...... guess what? No lights on the trailer. Had to jump over the corroded trailer connector to get power to the lights. After that we headed home.

I unloaded the trailer with 2 buddies using 8 foot 2 by 4s as levers. I refer to this as cavemanning. Old primitive no tool having engineering. We just removed the canopy, strapped the tank to the stand and let er buck nasty. 3 inches at a time. After about 2 hours she slid off the back of the trailer.

When I go to move it again I WILL do it myself. This way no one lets me down and I can count on zero excuses. Engineering how that will be done will be very interesting....... But after learning the lesson I did it is the ONLY way.

I'll get some more pics this weekend of the tank.

The pumps I won't be picking up for a few weeks. I have one of the sumps I'll be using allready so I'll get some pics of that this wekend as well.... The other sump I won't be picking up till I go for the 2 pumps.

hmm. you know, i get the impression that you could have got a bigger tank. Maybe you could use it as a grow out or for keeping feeder shrimp?

Sarcasm doesn't project well on the interweb but i assure you that was incredibly sarcastic. that would essentially be the price of a new, small family hatch back over here so it's a damn good pick up.

Now, stick it upstairs!

The sad part is thinking of the evolution of a true MFKer. Everytime you take it to the next level your current tank becomes a sump.......... Pretty sad to think that this may be a sump someday.
