Nice monster

thats frickin huge!!!!

i would oversize the pumps then valve them off to return back to the sump. then u can control the flow to the tank, getting maximum flow. (also keeps ur sump stirred)

what size r the holes??

cant wait to see it setup!!!!

Have you thought about rubbermaid stock tanks for sumps? I got a 100 gal rubbermaid on my 585 and it's a sweet little sump. Saves some cash. If you can get them under your stand. I couldn't b/c the doors were to small but that's fine with me.

Can we ask what you gave for it?

Nice man... I'm putting together a 10x5x4 now in my basement because i have no way of getting a huge tank down the stairs.... So i'm making my own down there. lol

Here's a pic of one of the sumps. Has a 1 1/2 inch bulkhead fitting on one end so it will work just fine with a Hammerhead. My problem is I don't know how to configure the sump so there's adequate mechanical filtration...... Bio is easy, it's the mechanical that always gets me.

I have no idea what the other sump looks like. I just know the guy said it's 125 gallons.... So I imagine it should be similar to this one. I won't know till I go pick it and the 2 pumps up.

Rubbermaid sumps...... I have one running my pond. Its fine for the bio portion, but I would need to add something to it for decent mechanical..... That's the part of it I'm having troubles with in my pond......

I'm sure I'll have plenty of time to figure it out beings that it probobly won't get used till I move........ which really sucks. Maybe this is just a sign that I need to move NOW..... LOL

As far as what I gave for it...... By the time it's up and running all said and done I'm guessing it will be around $3K. The guy I bought it from said he paid over $10K for the tank....... Don't know if there's any truth to that or not I have never priced anything like this.

I believe the holes in the bottom of the overflows are 2 1/2 inch. The bulkhead fitting was for 1 1/4 pvc.

With mechanical filtration it's important to make shure there's no way water can get past the media (it also is with bio, but you have more room for error there before you notice it fails). You can use filtration socks for example:

You just attach it to this:

In your sump and get the overflow to come out in the socks...make shure you check before you buy how much gph they can handle. If you get double the amount of socks you need (or more ofcourse) you can change them every few days and just wash the dirty ones :)

Also make shure that if they do clogg your water can still get on your sump and not on the floor (out of your system), but if you hang them with the clamps in your sump this will not be a problem.
