I installed the first assembled filter on my 135 gallon tank. The tank is 6' x 1.5'. I hung the inlet on the left side of the tank. I took a couple of the tube links out because my 135 is standard depth. Likewise, I took some of the spray bar for length too. The outlet hangs across the back at the far right side with the spray bar attached to the right side glass. The canister sits under the tank in the center. I did have problems priming the canister, but I believe it was due to excess hose behind the tank and stand.
I assembled the second filter pretty fast. I bought it for my 4' x 2' 120 gallon tall. The canister would not fit under my stand; the openings were too narrow. So I decided to put the filter on the right of the tank. This was imperative due to hose length. I put the intake on the right as deep as all provided links. Because of the hose length, I hung the outlet just left of the center and applied the spray bar to the back glass extending to the left. I pressed the primer and in no time the filter was running.
This filter has an internal 9w uv light. The lights are controlled by a power switch on top if the canister lid. The unit has a spring loaded priming button. Also, there is a ball globe shutoff to remove the hoses from the canister without emptying your tank on the floor.
I have not checked the uv lights for proper function yet. I will check those at the first cleaning. I am currently setting the media in the filter. On the 135, I am running the new filter with two emperor 400s and a 525gph powerhead. On the 125, I am running the new filter with an Aqueon 75 gallon tank filter and a 325gph powerhead.
Also, even though they have only been running two days, I am thus far just as pleased with these filters as my Eheim Pro II. They are also just as quiet as the Eheim.
