Next Poly?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
This is why we needed to know your current stock before recommending another poly.

So, what people are saying is if you can't get another tank, and definitely want to keep the Sens, you might run into a problem even with your current stock - Ornate, Koliba, and Teug - let alone getting an Endli or Ansorgii.

Your ropes might be a problem too once those three get larger. I was told not to try and keep ropes with LJs. Too worm-like. :(

What would you ultimately want your tank to end up with for Poly stock? Do you have a dream Poly that you don't currently own, or do you have current poly that you absolutely don't want to see go?

We not trying to discourage you on getting a poly you want, we just advicing you and trying to tell you a possibility on what could happen.
I learned first hand with my stock before that never fully trust a poly, they might be nice now but will make havoc in your tank in the future, we never know.

Here are is video of my tinkisso endli 14" grabbing a 6" sen and tried to eat it.
I end up saving the sen but i didnt had a seperate tank since my 75g broke and i was about to leave out of town so i cant set up anything, the sen never made it through the night it eventually the sen got eaten.

Here is a picture from FB, juvie endli eating a del almost same size as him.IMG_5689.JPG

Also here is a thread i made before when my ornate ate my endli, i didnt see it but you can tell by how big the ornates belly.

So its up to you how will to figure out your stock if you still decide to pick up a new poly, like magpie magpie mentioned you can rehome your small poly or keep it seperate from your other poly that will grow big, then once you do that then you can get a endli or other LJ you want, its really up to you.

Im with twentyleagues twentyleagues im tired of seeing small polys getting eaten by big polys, they are pets not objects that we collect.

Good luck bro.

I found a 150 on craigslist for $250, so I may get that, but I don't see that as being very likely. It depends on if I can convince my father to let me get another tank.

How many sen do you have? if you have less than 5 i think a 40g breeder should be enough.

I have a 3", 4", 5", and 8-9" Sen. Four in total.

That would definitely save me a lot of money and time on wcs.

Or I could have not let J jaws7777 turn me into an addict...

I think the should be fine in a 40b or a 55g. Wait and see what the others think, cause now i have 10 UJ in a 65g ranging 5"-7". And they are ok in it.

They don't need a 150 but that would be great! They would enjoy all that room but that's not to realistic. If you could find a decent priced 75g that'd be more then enough, and if you decided to get a couple smaller sized ujs you'd have room. I'm not going to say you should try and stuff them in a tiny tank but id think your sens would do ok in a 40b also. Just get a top please or make one for which ever tank you get (2nd leading cause of poly death well really maybe #1). I think the $1/gallon sale at Petco may still be going on (not sure) 40b is one of the tanks that qualifies. And yes I am not telling you you have to do anything. Just have seen quite a bit and experienced a lot myself, we're trying to help you not do the same dumb crap we or others have/will do.

I don't plan to do anything below 75g. If I'm going to move the Sens, the least I can do is give them a tank the size of my filter.

I was searching on craigslist and found a 150 for $500. The only problem is I don't have that money. Fish keeping on a budget isn't easy, especially when you're dealing with such large tanks... With honors classes that give me 2 hours of homework each day, including weekends, a part time job isn't an option either... I'm stuck on what to do...

I forgot to mention that the 150 for $500 came with everything I would need. Lights, heaters, filters, etc... The 150 for $250 was just the tank and beat up stand.

Sounds like that'd be the way to go. But school is more important then a part time job. I'd just hold off on getting anything else atm. Teug and ornate grow at a decent speed but you've got some time before they get into the danger zone.
